This past Saturday, Valve released a video featuring Portal 2 antagonist Wheatley. Unsurprisingly, the Internet descended upon it with icepicks and magnifying glasses, ready to take it apart and examine every frame for clues about Half-Life 3.
Shortly after the video aired, 4Chan wrote a polite joint letter to Gabe Newell, who responded with, "I don’t suppose it would ease your wrath if I told you we’re announcing all of your favourite things at E3 2012?" He later clarified that the reveal would involve "something with a 'three' in it."
As if that wasn't enough, Valve's "Doug Rattman" Twitter account suddenly returned from obscurity to say, "It begins." He then began Tweeting odd codes such as, "ЯK - 63.4 | 37.5 | 20.5 | 47.4 | 13.1 | 12.5 | 27.6 | 72.4 | 54.3 | 70.3 | 34.6 | 15.1 | 60.2 | 21.0 | 38.5 |," before disappearing again.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Valve Troll Wagon has officially rolled into town again. Let's get excited/confused!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
One of these statements is false.
"Update: Commenter TheGreatCaligula sensibly points out that the Doug Rattman account is considered by many in the experienced Valve ARG community to be fake, so we may have been duped by interweb hoaxmasters :("

...But I'll be honest and say I kinda want Left 4 Dead 3 more. >_>;;
Please DToid Community, don't hate me. ._.
You can't hate a dead man... well, unless its hitler I guess. That dude was a total dick.
Wait, Gabe said "something with a THREE in it" and the only game where the numbers are spelled out is in the Episode titles...
HL2:Episode Three.... /BONER
Check your resources first Jimbo!
I, kind of play Left 4 Dead for the bits of story and character dialogue more than for it just being a fun game. Does that fact and all this gushing make me a little weird?
Hopefully you fans will get the game you deserve.
Haters gonna have opinions.
Oh god I want to be wrong on that one.
Let me see your trollollllll
Troll da troll troll troll.
But yeah, I really won't believe it until its in our hands and we're playing it. Even if it was an announced thing, Metal Gear Rising (and countless others, but thats the best example I can give right now) has taught us that anything could go quietly into that dark night without us really knowing about it between an announcement and .. well.. 2-3 years after.
