Valkyria Chronicles III's DX edition gets you a sweet cup photo

I think it's fairly clear that Valkyria Chronicles III is aiming to strike a slightly edgier tone than its previous incarnations, what with its black-ops squad of "Nameless" soldiers conducting secret missions in the midst of the Imperial invasion, it's only fitting that the deluxe (hence "DX") edition of the game comes with some edgier bonus bits.

And nothing's edgier than...a cup. And not some kind of ugly-ass mug that says "World's Best Nameless Soldier" on it, but a wartime cup, which is collapsible, the better to fit in your nameless soldier rucksack. So when you get your DX edition, you can drink your black coffee out of a wartime cup, all the while smelling that burning Ragnite on the battlefield.

Oh, and it also comes with a clear poster, and "Gallia Secret Document", which spills some of the details male lead Kurt Irving's last mission as "Kurt Irving". Check out some spiffy picturesof the cup and its branded metal container below. Another, retailer-exclusive DX edition comes with dog tags for characters Riela and Imca (pictured above), but dog tags are so done-to-death. This is a cup. For drinking!

It's just better.

I LOVE THOSE COLLAPSABLE CUPS.

And now I feel like less of a man.

Until VC comes back to the PS3, it is dead to me!

One would have thought since SEGA can't get Sonic right, they would have taken the opportunity to get a following for VC on the consoles. Apparently, shrinking an awesome game down to a crappy handheld just to make Japanese gamers happy is much better :D

I could deal with the Valkyrie power in the first game because well, it was the name and point of the game, and it was rare and special.

But now they're just shoving it at us and the giant swords? No thanks, I like anime but that's not what I want VC to be, get back to old shitty guns please.

Whoa, squad 422 has the most demotivational crest ever, although I suppose if they had to come up 422 of those things it would get a little less inspiring as time went on.

I guess they can’t all be unicorns.

Whenever I hear anything about Valkyria anymore it makes me angry.

I hate that they abandoned the PS3 :[

Man, seeing that pictures reminds me how fed up I am with the Valkyria in Valkyria Chronicles. You never get to control them, and when you fight them, they're overpowered an gimmicky; a substitute for good AI in an effort to increase the difficulty of the game.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that after the release of the game reports will start coming in about cases of lead poisoning and/or horrible cancer from people that have drank from the promotional cup. Regardless, I still really want one.

@John Johnson

In VCIII, you get to control the Valkyria on your squad from the very beginning. You get three "Special Points" per mission, which you can use to turn her into a Valkyria with the crazy 1-shot anything laser, or to make the lady with the huge gunsword shoot missiles at every unit in front of her. Play the demo. It's pretty fucking rad.

I just want to say that the developer didn't abandonen the PS3. In fact they are trying to make the game grander by putting it off. The developers themselves said at TGS this year, that they want to make one for the ps3 but they dont have any new content, most likly gameplay, that they believe is great enough for a console release. I thank the developers for doing this, creating small games on a portable console that tell different sides of the same story so I can still enjoy the series, instead of something like the Call of Duty series which creates a new game every year without any real changes.
