Valkyria Chronicles 2 gets screens, we post them photo

We found a small selection of screens on the Japanese Valkyria Chronicles blog, and since we're such nice chaps, we're posting them here. With Dale North away on business, we have nobody to translate the Moon Speak, so unfortunately you'll have to read all the Japanese text yourself.

As you can see, it's obviously not quite as gorgeous as the PS3 original, but it still looks pretty good for a PSP title. Just a shame that the move to PSP has cost the game its beautiful hand-drawn style.

All things considered though, it's somewhat amazing that Valkyria Chronicles is getting any kind of sequel, regardless of what system its being put on. Don't games like this usually slip into fond obscurity, never to be seen again?

Skies of Arcadia 2, pl0x.

Seriously, if it never gets a sequel after this, I'll be heartbroken.

I'll definitely be picking this up. Something I hope they do for this game is due to it being a portable game, make the missions a bit shorter and a bit easier. Maybe pass on the easier difficulty, but they definitely need to be a bit shorter.

Since the first game probably didn't make much (if any) money, I'm guessing this is of Sony's doing.

Sony's trying to get more people to make PSP exclusives and I'm sure it will cost significantly less to make on the handheld than on the PS3.

"Sony's trying to get more people to make PSP exclusives and I'm sure it will cost significantly less to make on the handheld than on the PS3."

I wish they wouldn't do this though. I feel like these PS3 to handheld systems are gimping their quality from the PS3, with their only aim being to support the hardware platform.

I hope there's another game this Generation as good as Valkyria 1.

Still dissappointed about the PSP onlyness, but will buy a PSP and this for it.
I already have FFT: WoL in my Final Fantasy collection, and will get Prinny, Peace Walker, Portable Ops to help me justify me buying a PSP.

It's a shame the series is going away from consoles. It looked promising and then it had to go to the PSP, something I'll never touch with a ten foot pole.

I don't know what's worse never getting a sequel to a great game or getting a sequel to a game that disappoints you right off the bat. I'm sure I'll buy it if it comes stateside but the whole time I play it I know I'll just wish they'd done it on PS3.

PSP?? Really??? Double-yoo tee eff, guys.

Well, at least it's not been converted into an iPhone tower defense game.

The original was great. Getting a PSP is starting to become a no-brainer.

There's a morale bar......

BRACE FOR EPIC!

I hope there's more strategy involved with that, and the whole game combined instead of blindly rushing in sometimes.

Can't wait.

I'm thinking the platform change is part of the numbers game. Everyone knows that VC was a slow burn here in the states, but over there it got off to a better start, and sold even more after the price dropped and the anime and manga adaptation came out.

While the move to the PSP seems nonsensical to us filthy gaijin, remember that the PSP is HUGE in Japan, thanks to Monster Hunter.

Taken in light of SEGA's dismal marketing approach in the US, and you'll know that these games are targeted to Japanese as the primary audience, and the moves taken are the ones that will make the most sense to them.

Well that looks a hell of a lot better than DQ for the DS, which reminds me I didn't see anybody bitching when DQ went to the DS. You guys need to be more consistent with your hating... oh wait, this is Sony, silly me.

I wonder how much PSP piracy will hurt this game. It is so sad, but very true. I'll be sure the buy a physical copy or at least a PSN copy.

While it may be a great game and all. It's a fucking disgrace. I bet this was supposed to be a side project for the PSP had the game been a hit.

The PS3 game was pretty fun, and REALLY pretty. This, on the other hand, looks a bit like refried asshole. I don't think I could maintain interest in the gameplay when it's all ugly like that.

I'm not quite sure how it is surprising that Valkyria Chronicles is getting a sequel, didn't it sell pretty well in Japan? Over here is another story, but it's been doing pretty well after the price drop. I can't help but feel that if it had released at $49.99 as a few other more niche titles (such as Disgaea 3) have that it would have done a lot better out of the gate.

I just hope they let you control the characters with the dpad. I could see them doing a decent job with that terrible little nub but I'd really like the option just in case. And to get some more buzz for this release (assuming it comes over here) they really should patch trophies in. That'd at least get a lot of people who have already played it back into the series and maybe drive a few more sales of the PS3 game.

It would have been so much better if it were on PS3 but at least I will be able to play it everywhere. It looks like it will be very similar gameplay wise to the first one.

I wish Welkins wasn't such a bland character.
Valkyria Chronicles was good though. Very good. I wish they'd have put the sequel on the PS3...

I don't have a PS3 but I'll definitely be getting this for my PSP. Especially if what's-his-name is composing the music again. God I loved Vagrant Story's soundtrack.

if people are complaining about the graphics, then yes its a shame that its lost its quality. but remember that the pic should be smaller and also screenshot of a game are normally worse than they look on the actual psp screen.

I'm going to assume that Sega looked at the sales, decided it was worthy of a sequel but not worthy of a sequel on the PS3, which totally sucks 'cause Valkyria Chronicles was absolutely amazing. Thing is...I knew from the start it wouldn't sell and that I would love it.

Oh I dunno if anyone has heard this or has any more information to divulge but I guess Sega has been toying with the idea of joining the console market again...?

Any information, please let me know!!! :D (Dreamcast 2, anyone??)
