Vader and Yoda priced for Soul Calibur 4 in America (spoiler: It's pathetic) photo

Many predicted this, and it's no shocker to find that Scamco Bandai will be introducing Yoda and Darth Vader as downloadable characters for Soul Calibur IV. Yoda and Vader were exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PS3 respectively, but with Namco being one of the worst DLC nickel-and-dimers out there, it was only a matter of time before they were made available to all ... for a price.

This Thursday, you will be able to buy Vader for 400 MS Points on Xbox Live, or Yoda for $4.99 over the PlayStation Network. Yep, five bucks for a downloadable character, which is likely already on the disc. Don't you just love it when a publisher uses DLC the right way?

As far as I'm concerned, this is pretty grotesque. Namco Bandai has become almost self-satirical when it comes to downloadable content and I would like to think they won't be supported ... except they will, and that's sad.

I'm... I'm sorry Jim... I might have to! Were the tables reversed I wouldn't care but Vader has me!

I agree this is pathetic. I've got tyhe PS3 vers. with Vader, but I've read that Yoda is overpowered and unbalanced anyway.

Otehrwise SC4 has been great, but yh, this is a scam.

The DLC overall for SC4 is pretty scandalous, a prime example of how NOT to do DLC. Hopefully it flops and everyone else learns.

I'll pay 4.99 to get the star wars out of my soul calibur.

If I liked SCIV, I'd totally buy this. But I don't, so I wont.

My friend already wasted his money on one of the armor packs. We got all excited thinking it'd be all the old costumes from Soul Calibur 2. Instead, it turned out to be a new helmet for Nightmare, one mask, and a Sophitia costume.

Basically it was shit. And 5 bucks for one characters is all the same.

Too little, too late. $5 price tag makes me glad I traded SCIV in 2 weeks ago to put towards Saints Row 2.

i've said it before, but i would seriously pay to have yoda and the apprentice out of my xbox 360 version of the game. soul calibur has it's own history and stuff, we don't need this guest character bullshit (especially star wars, a franchise on the downward spiral in my eyes, since the prequels and lucas toying with the originals!)...and to pay 400 points for more of it, even if you liked the guest characters, you have to be pretty retarded or completely obsessed to pay that much! DLC may be the future, but not done like this.

I'll probably wait till I'm able to buy SCIV used for like 15 bucks, and then I'll have paid no more than 20 bucks for their full game, nickel and dime unlocking included. Well, I'm just really glad I didn't buy a new copy, for those of you who did knowing that this "dlc" would be released, shame on you.

i bought SC4 for 25 quid last month, finished it, got 1000 GS then traded it in for 22 quid 3 weeks later. so i basically raked the crap out of it, paid 3 quid for 3 weeks with it. And now its in the store getting ready to be bought again making the gameshop money and not a penny to namco. i hope im not the only one to do this as a bit of karma to these arseholes.

i hope who ever came up with this 'DLC money scam' idea gets their tiny penis trapped in their flys every day for the rest of their poxy little life.

Lets not forget that Dante nearly made it into SC3.

Serioiusly, when did everyone come out of the woodwork to bash SC4 for having special guest characters? Goofy extra characters have been around since essentially the birth of the series.

Also, $5 is too much for a broken character.

since namco ask you to pay extra for the 'joy' of unlocking them.

lets see... burnout paradise dlc = free, yoda and vader for sc4 = $5? wow, messed up.

This strikes me as equal parts greedy and lazy. Were they too busy to think of some cool stuff to do in the game to unlock the other version's character? Sheesh, what if you had to download Solid Snake or Sonic in Smash Bros., or if you had to buy Johto-region Pokémon to use in Diamond and Pearl?

...Okay, so I'd actually rather buy Lugia than play Pokemon Coliseum, go dig up my old GBA and GBA/'Cube Link Cable, go put it on Ruby or Leaf Green, and then go catch it in Pal Park. But that's different. I really hate the Pokemon Coliseum games.

...What was I talking about?

i purchased SCIV knowing full well that this would happen, but i am sick of the way namco have implemented DLC, so i will not be buying vader.

only problem is i accidentally purchased the fucking schoolgirl costumes so namco already thinks i am a complete tool.

I would have bought it had they been available at LAUNCH. Now my excitement for the game has dwindled and I really don't want to spend $5 for a character in a game I don't play much anymore.

::shrug:: I can't help it. I buy a lot of overpriced DLC but I never regret it after the fact. I always make sure it's something I reeeeaaallly want. If I were to follow your example, I would never have bought Braid, one of the greatest games of all time. As good as it was, it was still 5 dollars more expensive than it should have been.

It's shitty, but it's not as if you have to buy it. A bunch of you mentioned that you bought the game at GameStop or used from another place/person. In my opinion the DLC that these companies are releasing is to combat that. That way, like someone mentioned, if you buy the game used, you might download Vader for $5 and at least they got *something* out of you.

And as usual, gamers all over the world will bend over, spread their buttcheeks, and pay the gaming industry to fuck them in the ass. Why are people so fucking stupid? This. Is. Wrong.

And "It's not as if you have to buy it"? Give me a break. People will buy this. Stupid people will justify these prices in the eyes of the companies. You're right, I don't have to buy it, but if I want the industry to change and stop trying to take advantage of us, then I'm gonna bitch until I turn blue.

I don't have to make this decision yet. I didn't get around to buying Soul Calibur 4. It's nice to know that I'll have the option of fighting Yoda and Vader on my 360, if I chose to pay for it.

Sorry, man, but that logic is really laughable. Who do you think these companies are? More people buying their product does not equal lower prices. It equals, "Hey, these kids are sucking this stuff up. Let's pump even more out there!" They can never have enough money. You give them more, they'll want more; not less.

I want Vadar for my 360 version bad...but not so badly that I'm willing to pay $8 AU. I mean this is the whole reason I bought the game cheap and still haven't gotten Beautiful Katamari...if they're going to scam me I'll just buy the games for half price or lower and then they can have their precious nickels and dimes and I'll get my full game.
