To anybody who thought that this "Web 2.0" bullsh*t was the beginning of a glorious new era, look what you have wrought! Just days after Metacritic had to tighten its user reviews to stop people abusing their system, popular aggregate site News 4 Gamers has now been turned into a minefield of Gears of War 2 spoilers ... for no real reason other than the fact that people are dickheads.
The boys from Ripten discovered this new page in the Big Book of Gamers Being C*nts when they found that arseholes were posting legitimate-looking news stories that led to pages containing possible details about the Gears 2 ending. When you consider the evaluation process that goes into a post being approved for N4G, that's the act of a real sad prick who'd go this far.
In addition, private messages are also being sent on N4G with Gears of War 2 plot details. If you are a big Gears fan and picked the game up today, it would seem that N4G is a Web site to steer clear of for a few days, since some people can't help being worthless prats with way too much free time.
Considering the Gears series isn't even known for the kind of deep plots that we've seen in, say, BioShock or Metal Gear Solid, I can't comprehend why someone thinks that it's important to "spoil" this. This is just ... lame. Be it the work of PlayStation 3 fanboys or simply people with tiny penises trying to feel important, it's utterly pathetic. I am sometimes ashamed to call myself a gamer, knowing the term also applies to people with these social problems.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Gears of War isn't known for it's story, but I'd still hate it to be spoiled. I want my experience to be pure.
lulz, next you will be telling me Littlebigplanet does too.
Who the feck cares? give me some online action. Single player is so 1990s.
Shame on you!
Personally I couldn't give a flying f**k if a plot is spoilt. If a game/movie/novel can be spoilt entirely with one like of text, then it probably wasn't worth it in the first place.
I'm very much a Journey, rather than a Destination, kind of guy. It's the fun, pathos, sadness, glee a story will provide over time that I love, not some arbitrary key point that coincides with Conrad's Hero's Journey.
You all sound retarded when you say that.
Don't go to gamefaqs either, people are spoiling the story left and right, gotta love the internet and people's propensity to be total assholes.
Just a thought.
@Furius: there's a special place in hell waiting for you my friend.
I think partly yes, but I don't think anyone was expecting to see spoilers for this game - Jim's giving the fans a heads up to cover their butts.
At 0 health.
so what . . . if people like knowing spoilers let them. ill prob cruise over and check it out myself. doesn't change anything for me . . .
...Wow someone discovered N4G and the real nature of it... xD

Exactly how i feel most of the times when i'm at n4g

END SPOILER ALERT
I find many times these days that if I want to enjoy a game, I mean really enjoy it, I have to not go on any gamesites for a least a week after I buy it. It's just constant spoilers, bitching, and then everyone crying for what's gonna come next..
I feel like within days of a game coming out no one could give a shit about it anymore.. I'm old and I remember when a game had to last you a good bit of time.
Except for the article above this one... C-C-C-C-C-C-Combo Breaker! Again, I haven't played a pure shooter that I played to the end and enjoyed since Max Payne 2. I like story with my shooter, so none of them seem to whet my apetite anymore.
You know what I find utterly pathetic? People comparing e-penis size because they dedicate their pathetic lives to playing multiplayer games online and being condescending?
**SPOILER**
It sucks.
Anyone actually playing it and found this mysterious storyline?
OR
Is it still a twitchy shooter with limited dialogue?
That one is on the house. ;)

Gears 2 uses MGS type storytelling in a western way.
