About
Although primarily a film critic/writer/whatever (he is Features Editor over at Destructoid's film-centric sister site, Flixist), Alec really likes videogames. In fact, he ended up getting hired by Flixist after doing a research paper on the influences of videogames on films and the film industry (way back in 2011 when it was less clear than it is now). So yeah, videogames are a pretty big part of his life.

Primarily a Nintendo fan, Alec mostly plays games on his PC while staring sadly at the Wii U Gamepad that sits under the monitor on his desk. He loves platformers and first person shooters primarily, but will play basically anything other than sports games, because sports are complicated.

Five of his favorite games:
- Resident Evil 4
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Bioshock
- Hotel Dusk Room 215
- Metal Gear Solid 4

He is also a student at Sarah Lawrence College, whatever that means.

Safe House director thinks games need immersive sound

Videogame developers and filmmakers have always had sort of an odd relationship, with some developers like David Cage pretending they're actually filmmakers and some filmmakers like Stephen Spielberg trying their hands at gam...   more

Why I would rather have Steam DRM than no DRM

A little over four years ago, I purchased The Orange Box at a local Wal-Mart. I believed in physical media.  I would rather deal with the five discs required to play the original Far Cry (one for playing, four for instal...   more
