Interplay is bringing Clayfighter to WiiWare and DSiWare and it's not just a straight port! It's going to be a little updated with improved graphics and revamped gameplay that will take advantage of the Wii and DS. The updated port is being worked on by StudioBlack Games' Eric Hart, who was the original programmer on Clayfighters for the Super Nintendo. Expect Clayfighter to hit the 'Wares Summer 2010.
Man, I remember I used to play Clayfighters religiously when I was younger. It's one of those games you always remember back fondly on. Then, when you're older, you play it again and wonder what the f**k was wrong with yourself for ever liking it so much.

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I still have the game :), I loved the announcer's voice.

Or, you know, better graphic and gameplay seeing as how it's a fighter and waggle wouldn't work. Not one Wii fighter requires waggle -- Every one of them supports the GameCube/Classic controller.
Nintendo Power and other magasines use to have pictures of the model used for the animation and a lot of details were lost on the sprites of the actual game...
Because Clayfighter just isn't much "clay" if the fighters are in CG!
We normally have stories that go live throughout (our) night, but staff has been sick and/or traveling. We are sorry to disappoint you!
Also, regarding this story -- this game was not good in 1993, and I have doubts about what it'll be like now.
The ultimate claymation 2d fighter of all time. I seriously probably put about an ENITRE YEAR worth of my own youth into that game when I had it on SNES.
Living with that is not easy.
I think I may cover the theme song...
I won't be downloading this game.
Best game name ever. I played it. alot. I guess I'd give another go. It had better have Earthworm Jim...
Hmmm... If they can revamp the fighting engine and produce cleaner frames of claymation, this could be cool.
Wasn't Earthworm Jim a playable fighter in one of these?! For the N64, I believe?
