Early today, we brought you word of GameStop's online listing for Mad Catz's upcoming cymbal expansion for the new Rock Band 2 wireless drum kit. At the time all we had was a tiny picture and a price point ($29.99) for a two-pack cymbals.
Now we have higher resolution images, direct from Mad Catz, and a bit more information on the product. Cymbals will be available in three packages -- in addition to the double pack (listed at GameStop), you'll be able to pick up a single cymbal for $19.99 and a triple pack for $39.99. All packs come with the necessary mounts and cables, and it seems the more cymbals you dedicate to up front, the better deal you'll be getting.
The cymbals will be available at most big retailers, including GameStop, who is currently listing the peripherals for a September 22 release. We hope to have some hands-on impressions and details of the cymbals, along with other Rock Band peripherals in the Mad Catz line soon.

@ Butmac: Strangely, the blue and green cymbals are where you'd think they would be in the second pic. I assume you're supposed to be able to position them however you want, and just plug the cables into the corresponding sockets.
@ Magesx: They basically duplicate the regular color notes in normal gameplay, but during fills and in the training mode they work as actual cymbals. At least that's my understanding from what I've read.
They'll substitute for the colors they are for i.e. if there's a hi-hat note in the game, you could just hit that instead of the pad. It's to add a bit more difficulty as well as have things resemble more of a realistic drum kit.
Also they are renders.
If you took time to actually look at the pictures, you'll notice that these cymbals are different than the ones shown back in July.
Damn, ill just get GH world tour set and use it for both games.
Stahlbrand was too cool to look at the pictures because like, these are SOOOO old. How dare I pass along this info.
Technically you can put you cymbals anywhere on a drum kit.
But as you question, the "standard" setup on a drum set would be hi-hat, crash1, crash2 then the ride cymbal.
But I can play on my friend drum kit who has hi-hat, crash1, ride, crash2. The ride is very low and set up between his only hi-tom and the floor tom.
It is all a mather of preference really.
grrr, you means your of course.
this aint no real drumming kit
This would be pretty fun but they're not even part of the game, unless you know the song well enough to know when the cymbals are coming up, weak.
