I'll be the first to admit that I don't know the first thing about Tron, and this teaser trailer isn't helping matters.

It's for the forthcoming Tron game, and it appears to be a teaser for the game's premiere, which will take place at the Spike Video Game Awards on December 12. Apparently, this is the videogame adaptation or tie-in for the forthcoming Tron sequel, Tron Legacy, which is scheduled to hit theaters next year.

While all of this means nothing to me, I'm there are Tron fans out there who are totally excited. This is for you!

Anyone else disappointed with the current VGA premieres? Spec-Ops and Tron? Really?

Maybe they will be good, but they certainly don't catch the eye.

Tron was an awesome film. If you haven't seen it check it out. This was when "kompyooters" were still a relatively new concept to the average person and while not "apocalypse now", was fairly poignant for it's time. Hackers vs evil corporation theme is still relevant today.

Tron was a good movie, and it has weathered like a fine cheese.

This trailer, on the other hand, tells me nothing.

They've pulled a Lucas with Tron. What's next? Pooh does porn? Danny and the Dinosaur do Vegas? Are there any of my childhood icons that aren't completely ruined yet?

Nick, having just watched it a year ago I can say it's still a really good sci-fi adventure flick. Watch it before you die..

The video shows the pyramid machines that Flynn created and they look pretty good. But you can't tell much other than the graphics have improved. I wonder if they will do something other than day-glo paint on the costumes if they make another Tron movie.
Hopefully it won't be all animated since that ruins the point of the movie.
The original game was awful and included things cut from teh movie like the spiders.
You see them but pass over them in the movie.
They replicate fast in the arcade game.
The movie is a classic but the original game has worn thin and is very outdated.

I hope it's as awesome as Tron 2.0 was, but it probably won't be, being a movie tie-in instead of an homage to a classic.

Gotta remember to watch the Tron movie one of these days.
It's kinda sad when the only little knowledge of info I have on Tron comes from a Kingdom Hearts game...

What the crap?

It's a movie about videogames, man. Netflix that shit.

The commentary on the dvd is well worth listening to as well. You'll learn a lot about why the movie is so special.

I hope the game compares favorably to Tron 2.0. That was a kickass pc game.

@Nick Chester

Definitely see Tron. It's like a time capsule of a very specific era of our history. Go in expecting 80's sci-fi camp and you'll have a great time. Also, Jeff Bridges is great.

I hope it continues the story of Tron 2.0, the game ended with a slight cliff-hanger because (spoiler) it hints in a few emails that Mr. Dillinger has returned since one email talks about "re-acquiring the company I lost" from "Unknown".

In a few frames you can see the coloration of the corruption that Thorne caused in Tron 2.0 so here's hoping.

I loved that movie when I was a little kid. I used to run around holding a dumbbell bar in front of me like I was in a lightcycle, and was fully convinced that I could derez people with my identity disc (which looked suspiciously like a glow-in-the-dark frisbee).

At the time I just thought it was cool to see people made of lasers, I guess. The hackers vs. corporate reality theme was lost on me as a seven year old, but I'm looking forward to the new movie and game. Hopefully Thorstein is wrong about them "pulling a Lucas".
