Apparently the "throw black paint on a white background" mechanic is just the first chapter. I chatted with the creator at PAX this year and he said it really changes a lot over the course of the game.
It was probably my game of the show. Granted, I already knew it would be cool based on the mechanic alone, but playing it is an entirely different experience. Jarring, sometimes even - you throw paint out into the ether expecting to reveal a bridge or something far off in the distance, but then the entire screen suddenly turns BLACK and you realize there was a wall 6 inches in front of you the whole time. It takes the magic of exploration and completely turns it on its head. Fucking fantastic.

I feel like we've seen enough to make a judgement if people will like it or not, reviews could definitely completely ruin this game for many. Just like Journey, I hope reviewers have the respect to just say "Go play this" if its not barred by technical failures.
I wish this was just a movie so that I could watch it unfold in a way that challenges traditional story telling and visual conventions. I would pay to see that up on an IMAX screen.

I can't wait to find out what the other chapters are like - the storybook pages at the end of the trailer earlier this year showed a few glimpses. Really keen for this one.

Can somebody please explain why this game is so groundbreaking? I really don't see how one game mechanic can impress so many people. Maybe if they were to expand on this mechanic, it could turn out to be a very unique, fully realized game, rather than an artistic tech demo.
I'm not hating on the game or anything, but every bit of footage I've seen looks exactly the same and I can't really see how this mechanic can be expanded upon. I feel like Jonathan Holmes when Skyrim was about to come out. Please, if you know something I don't, enlighten me.

I've played this at the Eurogamer Expo, looks great if you don't try to smother the whole area in paint. I'm hoping that there will be a little bit of extra 'game' in there, and not just simply throwing paint around to find out where you are going.
