If you think about it though the faces in L.A. Noire were not animated, they were were recorded and transferred into the game, so if you exclude then the facial animations alone the game suddenly doesn't seem that impressive anymore...animation wise that is.

Max-
@AncientPsychicTandemThing - Sure it was just recorded then mapped onto the character's head as an animated texture, you've got to admit though it was an impressive technique/workaround what would otherwise be spending 90% of the poly budget on facial animations alone, now if only they actually made the textures not look like a muddy piece of shit on pc...

LA Noire nominated for best animation? What the fuck? The facial "animation" was good but everything was stiffer than majority of the acting. Portal 2 is the only game of that bunch with a good story. And how the hell was any of those games, with the exception of LA Noire's facial capture, innovative? What a joke.

Funny that the "interactive" achievement awards are giving so many nominations to Uncharted 3, a game so close to being on rails that one could sleepwalk thru it.

Zelda got so few nominations.... and I agree with daspooch about unchartes.
And how the hell is skyrim considered "innovative"? For being one of the most horribly gliched up games that everybody loves anyway? That's the only thing that makes it different from its predecessors, and not even by that much...
*sigh... oh well...

*about uncharteD* oopd....^_^;
Also, why no Kirby love for " family game"? I played LBP with my little siblings, and it wasn't always the most pleasant experience when you consider the uneven level design and disorienting art direction in the later levels, whic I'm not sure would be much more bearable alone either.

Whoa no #Sworcery for mobile game of the year? That's unfortunate.

So this is where people champion a real industry awards set up as much as they derided the VGA's right?

Anyone?
Scissors's Avatar - Comment posted on 01/13/2012 12:07

Honestly most of these games don't deserve these awards, it just seems like they gave the awards to games they liked and repeated them in categories even if they didn't particularly excel in that category. Is it really fair to give Uncharted 3 two spots of only five available when dozens of games had great character performances this year?

Just how good is the sound design in NFS: The Run? The sound design must have completely overshadowed the story as well as gameplay.

I don't think that's what he meant.
Think of it this way: would it be fair if it received 5 nominations, basically giving the award to uncharted without any deliberation?
