It took Sony a long time, but they've finally got an ad campaign that is hitting on all four cylinders, and when you've got something that works you need to run with it. For instance, when your massively huge exclusive game is being launched it's probably time to break out your fantastic ad campaign, and so Sony has with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
You probably don't need a funny ad to tell you about the game because you read Destructoid and we tell you about the game, but in case you do this ad will learn you all about the games cinematic awesomeness and exciting action. Of course all the scenes they show aren't all actual gameplay, but who cares the game is going to rock anyway. There's a hot babe in it too.

Games! Movies! Hats!
Meet the rest of the team
somehow i think it's a double pronged meaning: people criticized MGS4 for being a "movie" and this is tongue in cheek, secondly it says to the casuals that U2 is a cinematic experience.
but imo, i think gaming is a much higher form of entertainment than the passiveness of film -_- but hey, this ad isn't for me or for anyone that reads kotaku :) since we already know what a U2 is.
They should have that Kevin Butler guy in one of those baby crying and crow controller ads and just leave a funny comment about how terrible those ads were.
what is with Sony and insulting women lately? Now apparently we can't tell the difference between a game and a movie? Great. I guess we're all just all just bimbos in the eyes of the Sony marketing department.
@Xzyliac:
"Wow. I haven't heard anyone call a girl a 'babe' since, like, the 90s."
My wife informed me very specifically last night that "babe" is her absolute favorite pet name and that I should address her as such more often. Who knew?

I'm probably out of the loop. What other Sony ads have been protraying women in a poor light?
Sometimes watching a game with great story is just as much fun as playing. There have been numerous story-heavy games in the past that I've played through with friends either taking turns or just watching. With that in mind, this is a funny enough ad... don't take it too seriously.
Seriously, these ads for Sony are MUCH better than their old campaigns and worth at least a smile. Plus they've poked fun at internet geeks, girls, and Nigerian millionaires... so at least they're working on offending people equally!
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Then air those clever PS3 slim commercials. It's that simple, Sony!
If I had a PS3, I would sooo buy this.
That is all.

Huh? Oh about the ad? Aw, no sorry I can't see it. DToid hates mobile users remember? *grumble grumble*
HAH! Funny indeed!
rololcopters. Great ad.
Not happy with their ads lately.
