Uncharted 2 DLC to come before 2010, some to be free photo

Prepare for more Uncharted 2 content in the near future. Developer Naughty Dog plans to release DLC for the fascinating PS3 title before 2010 hits.

“We’re working on that now,” Amy Hennig told Industry Gamers in a recent conversation, speaking to downloadable content. “Without going into specifics, it’ll involve new maps, new characters, things like that,” the creative director said.

In an interview earlier this month, designer Justin Richmond revealed that the studio was working on competitive DLC, not cooperative. Richmond used the same general examples -- maps, characters, and modes -- to explain what the studio is shooting for in regards to the expected DLC.

In the more recent interview, Hennig said that some of the DLC might not carry a price tag, while other bits will indeed cost real coin.

"Some of it will be free of charge and some of it will be purchasable. We've got a lot of people on the team working on this stuff, some really cool stuff that people will be excited about. So we're definitely taking it very seriously,” said Hennig.

We’re all about free stuff, especially if it involves ice cream or additional videogame content, so we’ll definitely take DLC at zero charge. It’ll be interesting to see what ends up being free versus what Naughty Dog chooses to charge for as the DLC. We’ll have to check this out again as the details come in.

This should be great and now is my official reason why I'll be buying this game.

They've never done DLC for a title before, have they? It'll be curious to see what happens with this.

I'm sure they won't disappoint me. They never have in all these years.

So much for Naughty Dog not believing in paid DLC

Sounds good to me. If I was to guess I'd say some new multiplayer skins which will be free, and then a new competitive map pack with 3 new maps that will cost you, probably in the range of $5 to $10.

Well done Naughty Dog - You just made my mind up regarding Trade in? Don't trade in.

Jolly good show.

Don't get me wrong, absolutely fucking superb game! Amazing single player, brilliant online, but having finished the story and played enough MP to go back to Demon's Souls i was considering the trade in - perhaps towards Borderlands.

Why does it matter what they put on the DLC for u to choose if u buy it or not. U should be buying it for the story mode. Multiplayer is just the bonus for having this great game.

I don't see a reason for DLC, Multiplayer is worthless, just a half-assed gears of war clone. Campaign is freaking awesome, but they should have focused in making it longer and more varied, and scratched the multiplayer altogether.

@IronRaiden, you just prove that pleasing everyone is impossible.

I'm hoping it's the other way around, but it most likely wont. Then again, on the behind the scenes video about multiplayer ND mention something about how they want all players to have an equal experience.

I like the multiplayer. I wouldn't call it half-assed compared to Gears of War. They added climbing elements and some decent customization and gameplay. If anything, I think they took a step in the right direction. Just as Gears of War 2 did.
