Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

"In a world where Metal Gears are Solid, one man makes his stand..." is not a direct quote from this "theatrical" trailer, but it might as well be. Though the above video is incredibly cheesy, it doesn't stop me getting chills just watching the promise of pure, concentrated awesome coming out of Hideo Kojima's insane mind.

My only gripe is that I wish they'd have used Cam Clarke for Liquid Ocelot. Clarke is one of my favorite parts of the MGS series (as my constant Liquid impressions on Podtoid might suggest) and while Patric Zimmerman is doing a fantastic job of adding a Liquid flair to his regular Ocelot voice, it's just not quite the same.

That said, this trailer is facepalm-worthy and yet it's still getting me pumped and/or superpumped for Guns of the Patriots, and that's not a bad thing at all. EVIL IS POWERFUL; COURAGE IS SOLID, GUYS! I can't believe they said that.

So MGS4 is a movie now? This trailer really sucked. It actually makes me question purchasing it now.

That's cute. They make it like a movie. I hope you're kidding Alpha, wtf. Lol.

Goddamn there's so many new posters now. I swear every time I comment I see at least one, crazy!

I actually like not having Cam Clarke do "Liquid's" voice. I mean, it IS Ocelot's body (mostly). Why wouldn't it just be a modified Ocelot voice? IMO they screwed up in MGS2 when they had Cam do the voice.

The world is changing fast. Gaming is bigger than movies. Everything is downloaded and those that don't play video games or go online. Are being left behind. You're becoming obsolete, outdated. This isn't gonna be your world anymore. It's gonna be ours!

Wait i missed it.

Can anything be controlled? lol

If i had handed in this script to my 5th grade English teacher she would have crossed out every other word. "you don't have to say this, it's implied. double negative. say more with less." lol

I admit though. As far as this game goes, the cornyness cant detract from the awesomeness.

For as serious as a story as Metal Gear games tell, they've never really taken themselves too seriously.

yikes. That was lame... So I suppose they felt that since the game is for a console that dons the spider-man font so proudly they must enhance that motif by including superfluos symbiote like abstract sequences...? If this were a trailer for the metal gear movie, it would be expected, but jeeze. Not even Kojima's superb cinematopgraphy shows through in this clip. Sort of feels like a satire in my opinion, it's that bad...or good?

Jim you're terribly bad at downplaying. You concentrate on Courage is Solid when you SHOULD be concentrating on how awesome everything else is. The shapeshifting beauty, The chase scene with the Metal gears, the NEVER BEFORE SEEN areas in the game, the badass fist fight with Snake and Ocelot... but your inner fanboy couldn't resist a pot shot. Pretty pathetic.

Wow... Never thought I'd see something about Metal Gear promoted in the most American way possible... All that needed was a US flag exploding and a shot of Duke Nukem.

Still good, but very unexpected. I guess I should at least be thankful it wasn't 20 fucking minutes this time...
