Still mad that Ulitimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is coming out less than a year after you paid full price for the prequel? Get over it. Your 'tude might lead you to miss out on the most crazy-crazy-crazy-all-the-time experience in fighting game history.
Heroes and Heralds mode is free, post-launch DLC that will allow you to collect cards based on other Marvel and Capcom characters, giving your fighters new properties and abilities. Unlike Street Fighter X Tekken's newly announced Gems Mode, which Capcom's Seth Killian says is "actually trying to (be) balance(d)", Heroes and Heralds mode is place where you can "just throw balance and sanity to the wind completely". With new combos, invisibility, super armor, projectile invincibility, and parries (complete with Daigo moment), I can see why he might say that.
It also sounds like Galactus will be getting a mode where you can finally play as the god-like planet eater. My question is, who will possibly be able to put up a fair fight against that dude? I'd like to say Gold Lightan or PTX, but I think we all know there is really only one right answer to that question.

Can't they just include it on the damn disk, even if they have to delay the game's launch a couple of weeks. I know I'm going to get plenty of "STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT FREE DLC TROLL!" but for someone who doesn't have their console connected to the internet, and doesn't have a huge harddrive, I'm getting tired of incomplete games. I'm pretty sure that most people who bought the first MVC3 would probably agree that maybe releases their games a little too prematurely
@ janklogs- That's backwards logic. The fewer of the "good" Capcom games you buy, the fewer of those games they'll make. If you want Capcom to release Legends 3, buy games that are like Legends 3 (assuming you want to play them).
@ llort het- As you know, release dates are carefully planned to correlate to other big releases, from both the developer in question, and the industry as a whole. Delaying the game probably wouldn't work for Capcom.
They also are probably looking to give people exactly like you more of a reason to get their consoles online.
The only issue I have is that my shiny metal super priced edition is useless. I'd gladly pay for the expansion if it meant that my giant hunk of rock wasn't a waste.
@Jonathan Holmes:
And the more "good" Capcom games that get bought, the more of those come out, as opposed to the ones people like him actually want which happen to not resemble what's available. It's lose-lose.
If janklogs wants to spend his money however he likes, last time I checked this is America.
My guess is if they abandoned the Mega Man franchise, then he doesn't care if they remain operational, and hence buys used. We don't have to bow down to multi-million dollar global corporations; it's ok to not like some :p
@ Magnalon- I hear you, but the way I see it, MvC3 wasn't a waste if you had fun with it for the past 6 months.
Remember, in my day, we got a new version of Darkstalkers or Street Fighter with 2-6 new characters every year or so, and we had to pay full price for it. To me, UMvC3 is a steal compared to the Capcom I once knew.
@Epic: Every time I try to forgive them, they give me a new reason to keep disliking them. A release of Megaman GB on the 3DS here, Megaman on a wanted mutant poster there, and I have no choice but to conclude that Capcom is trolling us and Seth Killian is begging to get socked in the face.
I won't argue the point further, because I doubt we'll ever reach a consensus. That's just how I feel.
I'll probably buy this eventually when it is super cheap. I'm still angry about buying the first one. I understand that this stuff happens, but, Jesus, the turn around was ridiculous. I feel like I have whiplash.
Honestly, nothing against Capcom really, but I just don't want this game. I got MvC3 and yeah, this game is cool and all, but even as a fighting game fan nothing about it justifies a purchase for me. I don't believe in shelling out my money for something that should've already been implemented prior. I understand updating, but I'm not going to play that amount of money for a few new characters and a few modes. I'm good with the original, if that's the case. I'll wait for SFxT.
This mode looks different, but I don't like that Capcom isn't aiming for balance. The mode will get boring after playing again an invisible Wolverine with super armor.
@Janklogs
I can't wait for Capcom to announce an online pass for this game, then you'll get it new.
I just wish we could progress a bit farther than that. A slightly better ripoff is still a ripoff. Add in the fact that Capcom promised there would be no "extra" edition, and blamed the disc only strategy on the earthquake (c'mon!), and you have a valid reason not to buy.
@ Magnalon- All I'm saying is, I think this game looks like it has a lot more than $40 worth of fun new content to it. Maybe my standards are silly. Maybe they're not. I guess time will tell.
Honestly, I'd probably have put my $40 down for Phoenix Wright and Nemesis alone.
@ Janklogs- Seth Killian is really, REALLY bummed that they canceled MML3. I don't know why you would want to punch him in the face.
In short, don't let your anger permit you from buying games that you want to play, and through your purchases, communicate to developers what games you value. I'm not saying that you should buy this game new. If you want to save a few bucks and don't mind waiting a month or two, go for it. I'm just saying, don't buy this game used just because you're mad at Capcom for not releasing MML3.
That's like refusing to call your friend back because you're mad that they didn't come over for dinner as planned. That's not going to do anything to help you get what you really want; a friend for dinner.
As I've said before many times fuck Capcom for releasing what should be DLC as a new game. Super Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, Capcom will not make new games when you fucking retards will buy the old ones with a new coat of paint and a $40 price tag.
@ able to think- Capcom not making new games? Ashura's Wrath, Resident Evil: Revelations, Street Fighter x Tekken, Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City, Dragon's Dogma, and Monster Hunter 4 say Hi.
@Jonathan Holmes You didn't have to keep buying the new ones, and in fact I don't think most people did. people got games much less frequently aback then and with fighting games it didn't matter as much if you had the newest version. You were either playing with friends at your house or at an arcade on whatever they had their, but since fighting games have gotten more competitive with the rise of the internet I feel a lot of fans feel obligated to get the new version if they want to stay current.
I also feel that it will provide further disincentive for non hardcore fans to get the game right away. If Capcom shows a pattern of releasing a second version of their game less then a year later, that has more features and more characters, then players who don't care as much will just skip the original and wait for the "ultra" version to come out. i feel this could hurt them in the long run since fighters aren't deep enough to only be supported by their most ardent fans, and if 40% of the people who would buy it wait for the second version then the original game's sales will suffer and their probably wont be another version.
Do you really want to NOT support Capcom that badly? You seem like you want this game so just buy it, support games that you like even if the company making the game has made a few bad decisions. I was very mad at Capcom for not putting forth the option of UMvC3 being DLC and MML3 being canceled, but I got over it. I'm looking forward to UMvC3 and Asura's Wrath, so I'll buy them regardless. Especially Asura's Wrath which is a new IP, not buying it because Capcom did something you didn't like would be supporting the abuse of older series. This another topic entirely though, I'm really going on a tangent at this point.
Oh Hey guy's hows it go-OH GAWD this again?! (MML3)
I want Tatsunoko vs. Capcom 2 for wii and and maybe add Sunrise characters and and Bandai. and well alot more cartoon characters. AND MAYBE SOME LIVE ACTION Lets see Adam from powerrangers thunder vs Ryo the wild fire from Ronin Warriors. YEAH! no not good enough FUCK YEAH!
@ Pigmy Wurm- The way I remember it, everyone was willing to buy the new version of fighters back then, mostly because the fighting game world was much more competitive in those days.
In the arcade era, you bought the home version of each iteration of each fighting game as a cost effective way to stay competitive at the arcade; a place where each lost match cost you $.25-$.50 cents. It was common for kids to blow through $10 a week at arcades back then, with nothing to show for it other than the thrill of the moment and the experiences they shared.
That's part of why I feel like getting a lifetime of online play via an online pass isn't really that bad of a deal. I personally don't think its worth it, but if you really enjoy playing games online, $10 for life per title really isn't asking that much.
But I agree that Capcom has to watch it with these updates. They will burn out the fighting game audience, just like they did in the 90's, if they aren't careful.
Good to know Capcom is reinforcing that we should never bother buying the first run of any of their games, and just wait for the inevitable
second edition.
