Ultimate Game Chair plus Capcom = vibrator cleverly disguised as gaming chair! photo

I'm not much for gaming chairs, as I have a rather comfy sofa corner that seems to serve the purpose just fine without vibrating against my ass every time I find a health potion, but some people like that sort of thing, you know. Ultimate Game Chair has decided to take it a step further, partnering with Capcom to release the Reactor Video Game chair. No one told them videogame is one word, I guess.

Anyway, 180 greenbacks will score you one of these thrones come later this year. Not only does it feature stereo sound and eight vibrating motors, but it also has a massage function to keep you energized while you play. As far as I can tell, the only reason the Capcom logo is on it is just ... well ... to have a chair with the Capcom logo on it. Good if you're a huge Capcom fan, I'd wager. There will be a non-branded version of the chair available for $200 as well, if you don't dig the branding.

I'm completely skeptical on the concept of a chair pre-made for gaming, but like I said, I have my sofa corner. Would you guys buy something like this? I'd like to be enlightened to hear about the adventures one can have in such an item, and if it really enhances the gameplay experience.

Already have a gamer chair, would only consider switching if it had something to rest the arms on.

I'd sooner by a gaming coffee table. You know, with useful shit like sized console bays, integrated charging stations for controllers, and a motorized lazer to entertain my cat so he would shut the fuck up while I'm playing Earth Defense Force.

I agree, arms on a chair are a must. Also, I would totally buy the coffee table Niero described.

So... you mean to say that the branded version of the chair will sell for $20 less than the one not emblazoned with Capcom's name for no reason?

Not putting much stock in the drawing power of SFIV, are we?

Was never a fan of the gaming chairs. For me it always seems like another piece of furniture that I don't need stuffed into my gaming room, but the massage feature made me do a double take for about 5 seconds. I'd buy the table Niero described though, time to get Ikea to work on that.

I have a gaming chair I must admit. It is a basic one with no vibration and no speakers. I got it for $20 and used it for a while till I couldnt take it anymore. its about as comfortable as being tarred.

Up until my television bit the dust and I moved the 360 into my office, I had a lovely corner of my couch which sufficed just fine, thank you very much.

Now, I sit in my considerably less comfortable desk chair. I still can't imagine buying furniture specifically intended for me to game with, though.

I’d rather take that $180 and put it toward a comfy recliner or something. Also, the point raised by mispelt was exactly what was on my mind when I was reading this article.

These things were set up at CAPTIVATE, and I have to say, they're pretty rad. They're relatively comfortable, and sound pretty good, too. If you're sitting in the chair, the game can be all kinds of loud, and the people around you won't hear it. WIN!

It needs an embedded mini-fridge, toilet, cup holder and controller cradle.

And a usb hub.

And a 10 disk cd/dvd changer.

And surround sound w/sub

And....

the one in the pic just seems to high to be really comfortable, plus mine is actually a rocking-chair, which gives you interesting 'other' possibilities :-)

I love how the ad looks so damn cheap looking even though it's aproved by Capcom, and how fast exactly is the speed of now anyway? :P
But that chair doesnt look that comfy, where are the arm rests? It looks like you could fall out of it it's that narrow looking.I agree with other people saying that they should have gone more for an egg shape chair

It seems to be a games industry thing. I have no idea why, but the official stance of games bloggers and, I imagine, the industry as a whole is that it's one word. It's incredibly silly and I really don't understand it. It bothers me more than it should.
