Ultimate cheapassery: The 2-hour Torchlight demo photo

Since many of you are like-minded folk, I can only assume you spend a good portion of your days pointing and clicking. I know I do. Why then, are we wasting our precious finger energy performing mundane tasks when we could be performing mundane tasks and totally getting sweet loot in the process?

Torchlight has been out since what, late October? Chances are if you had any intention of playing this year's Diablo, you would have done so already. Or you're waiting on a Steam sale.

I don't exactly know who this post is intended for, but here goes anyway: publisher Perfect World Entertainment is offering up a 2-hour trial of Torchlight. Having not tried this out for myself, I can't say what happens when the time runs out.

I'd like to think a self-destruct sequence on your computer is activated and the only way to prevent imminent destruction is to fork over the full $20. Tomorrow's headlines will surely read "Torchlight sales skyrocket 300%."

This seems similar to Mythos for some reason...

The header, the article, this is a wonderful post. Now if only I knew what the hell Torchlight is.

@Chronic Logic - Same guys, pretty much. Also...

Or you're waiting on a Steam sale.

How can you be waiting on a Steam sale for a $20 game? Buy that shit.

There may be another general holiday sale this year, if anybody's quibbling about saving $3.75. It's well worth the price of admission if you're into this sort of game, though.

Torchlight is pretty much a segway for the company to make a Diablo-ish MMO. So drink the Kool-Aid now, but get prepared for it to consume your life and wallet later.

Fun game. Interesting concept of a demo. Time limits, is this a new thing? I suppose it will work for such an addicting game. Especially once you get into enchanting your items (with crossed fingers) again and again... and again... oh God I can't stop!

Bought the game on day 1 & enjoyed the hell out of it. But for something like this I'd just recommend sites like Giant Bomb, Destructoid & others that post videos of the gameplay of the people running the site playing it & not the developers. Not that the developer issued gameplay movies are that bad it just might not show some honest reactions or might try to show off just the best bits over what the rest of the game might be.

Ug... I really want to just buy it, as I'd know I'd like it. The complete lack of co-op is definitely a turn off however. Well... that and being unemployed. :(

A Steam sale would help sway me though. ;)

I'm waiting for a Steam Sale... also not really worried about the MMO eating my soul and wallet as I refuse to pay monthly fees to play games... and therefore don't play MMO's.

That was the best part of whatever Batman movie that was. I remember seeing that when I was like 4 years old.

If you like Diablo and the artistic style of Warcraft III/WoW, then you should buy the game without thinking twice. It's easily worth $20. I was sold after checking out the Quick Look on Giant Bomb.

after the two hours it literally shuts down... not sure if it creates a save file or not since i did not purchase said title. If i wasn't a broke bastard then this would be an excellent "find a job tomorrow" game. Had me hooked. Well worth 20 dollars. If i had 20 dollars.

The regular demo went up to the first boss, that took me at least an hour. I guess if you speed run you might get to see more of the game but I don't really see the point. I like to take it at my own pace. That demo defiantly saved my characters progress and transfered it to the full game when I got it, so I'd assume this one does too.

I find it really enjoyable. It's like a Diablo 1.5, makes me pretty nostalgic. I haven't tried it yet, but there's also an extensive game editor that adds to Torchlight's value.

Fourth, the words at the end of the Phaistos disk seem to be shorter than those at the outset, which would match the pattern found in various Ural-Altaic languages where the terminal words are frequently verbs of being or doing following longer participial and gerundive constructions.
