UK watchdog wants Mad World banned photo

I've read some disgusting horsesh*t when it comes to uptight and confused wingnuts who want videogames banned, but rarely do I come across something as ignorant, vulgar and utterly pathetic as this. John Beyer, a media watchdog for some site that I won't be giving free hits to, is aiming to put pressure on the BBFC to refuse a rating on upcoming Wii brawler Mad World

I hope the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) will view this with concern and decide it should not be granted a classification, essentially making it illegal to sell the title in UK.

Without that it cannot be marketed in Britain. What the rest of world does is up to them. We need to ensure that modern and civilized values take priority rather than killing and maiming people.

The above little rant is easily one of the most appallingly abysmal assessments I've ever seen spew out of the anti-games lobby. That grown adults still think the only way to deal with things they don't like is to outlaw them dismays and frightens me, but never before has such a disturbing mindset been voiced in such an obnoxious and almost gleeful tone. Since when has "modern" values been the restriction of media? That would drag us right back into the Victorian age.

Beyer published this crap in, shockingly, The Daily Mail,  and added that the Wii's family friendly image will be "spoiled" with the inclusion of Mad World. Apparently it will be a "shame" to add some variety on the Wii and provide entertainment for all ages. I know The Daily Mail is created for and by six year olds, but that doesn't mean everything else has to be.

I am ashamed to share a country with these wretches.

For some reason I find this hilarious coming from a country where kids stab the hell out of each other for fun apparently.

Pro-tip: Start there.

btw, I find it funny that in Total Recall he puts a POST THROUGH A GUYS HEAD, yet I'm not hearing a call for a ban on that.

I'm telling you...we need to seriously look into cloning dinosaurs so that the weak and stupid can be eliminated from the human gene pool. Or, at the least least, it will give these morons something more important to worry about than the supposed destruction of our youth's minds.

Let's not worry about priests and teachers molesting our children, or how many kids go hungry over the summer because their families were getting free lunches during the school year...or hell, how children in Africa have to fear being raped, abused, used to mine diamonds, or murdered. Nah, let's go after video games...that's more important. It'll make a difference if we focus on that. Worked when we went after movies, TV, and music, right?

Madworld will succeed in destroying the "family friendly wii" and all those who touch it where Manhunt 2 failed

Mega Man 9 should be banned for the same reasons. Exposing our children to exploding robots? Not on my watch, you violence mongers.

zombiekiller13: We need to do nothing so difficult. All we need is to take those warnings meant for stupid people off of labels.

Then people will be electricuted by their hairdryers, crushed by machinery while on nyquil, etc.

The stupidity will take care of itself.

@zombie and to an extent everyone:

If you try to stop larger problems then you recognize that they exist while making a statement that you think you can stop it. So instead of trying to tackle a larger problem at hand they focus on keeping their little pocket of life perfected and uncorrupted so that they can feel like they have made the world a better place.

But yeeeah, there really are worse things to go after than the black and white gore fest on the white waggle box.

The press in this country really are pathetic, they bitch and whined when Max Mosley won his court case because they said it infringed on freedom of the press but all it really did was hopefully make the sun and the others think twice before they ruin some poor checkout girls life by 'exposing' her as a prostitute.

Freedom of the press was created so newspapers could print what they wanted without having to ask the governments permission, in other words the were given the freedom to question and challenge the governments decisions. Do they do that no, they print whiny stories about how Britain is shit and the only 'solution' they have but forward so far is to get rid of all the foreigners.

Is it just me, has the news media always been so reluctant to cover real news. Do we as a nation really care more about jordans new piercing than what Mugabe is doing in Zimbabwe.

Erm just noticed this became more of a generalised attacking on the news media rather them wanting to ban stuff. Oh well anyone want to join me in sending parcels of shit to the daily mail, I'm not sure if it will accomplish anything but it will sure as hell make me feel better.

Actually violent crime is incredibly low in Britain, its just that the tabloids don't think that would make very interesting headlines.
