UK site taking limited edition Bioshock pre-orders photo

Here's something you don't see every day, early news about a UK videogame release! Visitors to UK site Gameplay.co.uk will be able to place their orders for the limited edition Bioshock box set for £49.99 and receive it on August 24th. The set is not yet seen on Amazon or Play, so Brits can smile that for once, they get just a little love. Just a little, mind.

Were my funds not tied up elsewhere until October, I'd be sorely tempted to plonk down my own pre-order for what might be the most important game of the year outside Halo 3's hypesphere of grandeur. I can't believe I'm going to have to resist temptation for over a month on this sucker. Even when Britain does get a break, I have to miss out. This is Nex's fault, somehow.

Pounds are for fatties, amirite?

Pounds are for the glorious empire of Britannia.

The PC version is 40quid. I'm tempted to buy that even though my PC has no chance of running it.

Bah no bloody moneys till I don't know when! I'm gonna have to hope EA send me copies of Medal of Honour and Madden so I can trade them in for something worthwhile (i.e. Bioshock)

I'm pretty sure this went up fairly recently. I'm sure someone would have pointed it out (here or on another site/forum/blog) before now. Now I just have to work out how I'm going to receive this package at my home address while I somehow go to work at the same time... Bastards won't deliver it to my work address, y'see.

I feel a sickie coming on.

(Neonie - unless you're making a joke, we're talking about the UK special edition, which hasn't been announced officially yet, though I suppose this counts)

Why, that's a steal at a converted $101.07! Go Europe.

Morrius, you could always get it sent to me, then I'll play it, let my daughter play with the Big Daddy figurine while my Dog chews the packaging (thats only if she doesn't get the postman first) and then once its in a sorry looking state I can forward it to you?

"International" ;)

That all depends if its a region free title, not all 360 games are.

I really hope it's region-free. If I ever move to America some day, I have a shitload of games I might need to abandon :-(

Possibly, but it could be region specific. I'm not too sure on this, I think most 360 games are, but only because I remember the fuss when Gears wasn't.

It could have been up at gameplay UK for a while, but I hadn't seen it before today, so sent the tip to Jim. Kudos if you pre-ordered a while ago, you've a sharper eye than I.

Some sites have the NTSC/J and US NTSC/U versions for sale. I wouldn't bet on regionfree with BioShock. Why not take the UK 360 with you to America when the time comes, Jim?

Pew: Different electricity comsumption on the American and UK models means the UK box won't work in the States. Nevermind the fact I'd have to keep importing titles from the UK and ... hehe ... yeah. Not gonna happen.

Yeah it's a shame it's not region free - I could save a good bit off the UK price, but hey, that's how it always go's. And yeah I ordered this first weekend of hols, so been around 3 weeks. It never got covered in the news anywhere though.

@Jim: I forgot about the voltage difference for a bit, but they do sell step-down 240>110 power convertors that seem compatible. I meant it more as keeping a backup-console to play your old games, and buying a new one in the US for new games.
But then your TV would have to be compatible with PAL too... yeah it does indeed sound like a headache.
Jim Sterling's Avatar - Comment posted on 08/12/2007 14:26

So long as my gamertag and profile works over there and I won't get banned for playing US games with a UK tag, I'll be fine. Hopefully hard drives are compatible so I can take that with me. Or fuck, maybe I'll just buy an Elite.

Or get an extra US Falcon Core for $200 by that time, add your old HDD and controllers and play good old cheap (HDMI if they add it) games on the American rig :)

And Jim when are you going to stop talking about leaving the Great British Empire and actually do so. You are a national fucking disgrace anyway.

@ Professor Pew et al: Falcon + Core = Falcor?

$100 (USD) for a vidjamo game is a bit nuts but, then again, we paid $80 for Super Street Fighter 2 for SNES... and it didn't even come with a cool action figure...
