I'm rather glad my copy is coming from zavvi. I can't imagine GAME will be around much longer, this is kind of a primary function of a retailer that they're failing hard at lately.
Game have killed off high street competition in the UK, unless you live in the North of England (you poor, poor bastard) so I wouldn't weep to see them go under, they're pretty useless anyway as this article highlights.
So if I'm reading this right, Game doesn't stock things I might want while stocking things I'd never buy.

Guess they haven't got enough money to buy the games off the publishers in the first place and the publishers won't let them have 'em on credit since they're a sinking ship.

I might end up getting a used Wii. I want to play this, Xenoblade Chronicles, Sonic Colors and my old Gamecube games.
I popped into my local GAME recently and they told me I wouldn't be able to get several games because unless you preorder they won't stock them in store. I was advised to look on their website.

I buy my games on Amazon these days, so I'm not to worried about brick and mortar stores going under.

They've been cancelling pre-orders of Mass Effect 3 CE as well apparently. Just confirms what I already knew really. That they're a shambolic shithole on their last legs...
I went into a Game today as my GF is mad for sims stuff and I have a loyalty card. As we were paying I asked if they were doing any promo's or preorders to do with Lollypop Chainsaw... they guy just looked at me and asked if it was on the PC?... I said no its on the main systems and he opened his book of dates and he could not see it. I didnt take it as a sign that they were not going to stock it but I was a bit taken back that the manager (I assume as he had a shirt on) had no clue about it. OK I guess their training right now is just Vita this and ME3 that but I'd expect their staff to read up on news etc
I hear that they are changing banks as they can't borrow from rbs or some such. So soon as that's done it'll be business as usual... Some companies are still letting em borrow but not all (ubi + Nintendo)
I've been screwed over by Game a few times recently but alarmingly increasingly too. Firstly, I pre-ordered Tales of the Abyss for 3DS and they never got it in (there was no announcement though). Next I had a staff member there fuck up my Pre-order for FF-XIII-2, They also only got 6 copies of Resident Evil Revelations in (luckily one was mine), very few MGS HD collections (Again mine was one of probably 10 copies).
Now this! Luckily I managed to get a pre-order from a friend at HMV today just in case so I'll be going there tomorrow.
Now I'm really worried for my Mass Effect 3 pre-order....

I guess I mean no offense to Lumines and Rayman, but they're kind of doing folks a favor keeping Ubisofts stuff out of stock.. If they want good PR they could simply say they're trying to save people from getting ripped off...

I laughed my arse off when GAME bought over all the Gamestations and promptly closed most of them down because they have no money at all. What a bunch of jokers.

perhaps if they allowed people to at least exchange games that turn out to be awful, people would feel more confident about buying from them.
I don't usually worry about buying games from gamestation because I know I can change it if it turns out to be terrible.
I don't have that reassurance with GAME, so I would only buy a game from GAME if I had already played it, like a demo. But since gamestation are generally good to me, I'd rather buy my games from them anyway.

My Gamestation pre order was cancelled and I have had to refund my £10 deposit.

They sold off my preorder for Fable II because I wasn't around to collect it ON RELEASE DAY - the reason why I preordered it in the first place.
They failed to stock any copies of Blur in all 3 of their stores in my area, as well as the GameStation store, and 2 of the stores didn't even know it existed AFTER it was released.
They really are a bunch of charlatans.

Worked for GAME over the xmas period. Did'nt take any of the temps on even though we were better than last years lot apparently and they were understaffed. Not a clear indication that they're having money troubles but it could easily be an early symptom. Seems to me like online is killing them competition wise.
This is bigger than you all realise. If game go under, there will be no high st videogame retailers in the country, their parent company owns gamestation. There are smaller chains, like grainger games, but essentially at this point there'll be nothing left but hmv and supermarkets.
This is exactly why I stopped shopping at Gamestop entirely. I don't care about greed or whatever, and I don't buy used or trade games in. All I need is my games to be there when I go to get them. I gave them 2 chances. When you bounce 2 preorders because you oversold, you can fuck right off. I hear they don't oversell preorders anymore but I really don't care. Far too many retailers out there to put up with this. I hope gamers turn on them in huge numbers. Particularly when you don't sell other products.

The only dedicated video games retailer in the UK steadily dying is not a good thing. The only people cheering this will be Grainger Games and I can't see how they would be in a better situation financially than GAME.
I preordered with Amazon too. Good thing I already hate Game, otherwise I would have another reason to hate them by now.

so long as they don't fuck up my N7 Mass effect 3 order I don't care. It's gamestation I did it went.
...and here I thought retailers used preordering to help them manage their inventory. When you think about it, in general, preordering provides little benefit to us, retailers push it and even offer incentives sometimes because it helps them reduce the risk of ordering too much on shelf/not meeting the demand.
