Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 shows signs of repeating the endless success of Call of Duty: World at War. It was this time last year that my weekly UK Chart was reporting record breaking success for the Call of Duty franchise, and here we are again with the exact same process.
Infinity Ward's massive shooter is now the third biggest game in UK history, beaten by Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training ... seriously.
In other news, Bayonetta has had a very impressive debut, coming in at number five on the chart. Meanwhile, Vigil's excellent Darksiders has debuted at number right. Both games seem to demonstrate just how wise it was to release their game a week after the holidays. You can expect other publishers to copy the tactic next year and clutter up yet another release window.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Anyway, I wonder what Bayonetta is really being sold on to the majority. It's selling a hell of a lot better than Platinum's earlier game, and I'm lead to believe that sex is the reason for this. Not that that's a bad thing, I'm glad Platiunum is finally finding success, but I really wonder if the average Joe guys Bayonetta for the sexiness or for the game itself. Look at the marketing for it, for God's sake.
anyways...
i think call of duty 4 modern warfare and call of duty modern warfare 2 being on the same chart is ridiculously redundant
That said, does anyone know where to buy Activision stocks....?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA ROFL LOL!!!!!!!!
I know man. No Super Mario Galaxy or Super Smash Bros. Brawl but freaking Wii-Fit? At this point I wouldn't be surprised to learn that those boards are being used to smuggle crack.
LOL YOU MAKE MY DAY!!!... XD
This made my day, it really did.
I feel somewhat amused that I'm pretty much the only person who doesn't own Modern Warfare 2 in my class; it's still the main thing people talk about when videogames are on their minds.
