Courtney Love might hate Guitar Hero 5, but she has the entirety of the British public against her, as evil publisher Activision's puppetry of dead celebrities has hit the number one slot, beating The Beatles: Rock Band despite the latter's hype and press coverage.
In fact, The Beatles has only hit number four in the charts, demonstrating you need more than just dead singers in order to make it to the top. The new Rock Band game has been beaten out by both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Dirt 2.
That's a shame, really. I had hoped The Beatles: Rock Band would topple the Guitar Hero franchise from atop the mountain. I guess Activision's Satanic Gods have not abandoned the company yet. Oh well, hit the jump for the latest nonsense.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Jimster you naughty boy. Funny though.
That'll give the series a real shotgun in the arm!
The mainstream consumers know only "The new Guitar Hero! Gotta have that!" They most likely couldn't tell you who published it.
Is Beatles available on PS3? I say because if it's xbox exclusive they really missed the point of their userbase, the people who give half a shit about the Beatles are mostly in the PS3's demographic rather than the 360's.
And for those of you that want to call me a fanboy...
"They should do a Jonas Brothers, Busted or McFly Rock Band, now that would appeal to the 360 userbase!"
..... couldn't resist.
HAHA, that is so true. Everyone knows the average 360 users are foul mouthed young tween brats. No sophistication to appreciate the music of the Beatles unlike the PS3 owners.
However PS3's are mostly 18-24 year olds - Care about Beatles? not so much but more so than the kiddies!
Now the problem this site has is that it's users believe that all gamers on their choice of console are the same as them and refuses to understand that the vast majority of gamers do not read or comment on sites like this, that as an adult with a 360, you are in the minority, as a Child with a PS3, again, minority.
Just because most users of your console are kids, doesn't mean that regurgitating that fact is offensively calling you a kid. Get it?
Read, don't scan thrugh and jump to conclusions.
Bam.
There's GH full band set too. Your explanation is wrong. And GH is not cheaper and simpler, its needlessly complicated and does not make you feel like you're playing an instrument like Rock Band does. Goes to show HMX knows their shit about music while Neversoft thinks Expert mode means you need to have 8 fingewrs in each hand to play the note charts
I don't know a single person under the age of 18 that owns a 360, all my friends and I (23 -32) all own the 360. Now that I think about it, I honestly don't know a single person who owns a PS3.
Stop making up stories. The 360 is filled is the kid who teabags and spout profanities on Halo games than on the PS3. You go to a PS3 online game, everyone is respectful and competitive. ^__^
I'm in the 360 owning 12-18 and I fucking love The Beatles (At least, more than any modern crap these days). Age doesn't mean anything when it comes to the Fab Four appreciation.
Also, will there ever be a word filter that turns 'Activision' into 'EVILision', amirite?
But seriously, don't feed the troll.
What Sexualchocolate is trying to say and which i agree wholeheartedly is that, 360 owners are simpletons. They can't possibly fathom or be entertained by The Beatles. ^__^
Also, hopefully I'm not being OMG RACIST, but I would have assumed that The Beatles would have sold ridiculously well in the UK.
Problem with Rock Band The Beatles is that it's only aimed at a specific market. I'll buy Rock Band since it has a variety of tracks on it, but I won't buy Rock Band The Beatles because I don't like the Beatles. And well, that's all it consists of.
Plus the general public in the UK has no music taste whatsoever anyway.
You say that the Brits have no musical taste yet you say you hate the Beatles and like GH for its variety of shitty tracks? LMAO.
By the way, while I was never a huge Beatles fan myself, this game has really turned me onto their music. Unless you hate every Beatles song you've ever heard (which is highly unlikely), I suggest giving this game a try.
GH5 also got a ton of TV advertising, which TB:RB didn't seem to do...
Phazer
fixed baby!
It's the first one they've gotten right since Harmonix left and you guys shit on it because Acti is involved. Who fucking cares!?
Apparently you do.
Where are the American charts anyway? They could be exactly the same yet we have to take the hit.
