What else could it have been? God of War III continues Sony's winning streak by taking the number one sales slot. Kratos' epic adventure is a hit with the British public as it overtakes Bad Company 2 and Final Fantasy XIII, both of which are doing well in the second and third slot.
Metro 2033 has an impressive debut at number five, which is a shame because the game is still broken as f*ck and I hope customers aren't getting burned too badly. Heavy Rain is still clinging to the top ten in seventh place while Command & Conquer 4 (review coming today) debuts at twelve.

If this game is broken, Fallout3 was a fucking trainwreck.
I havn't actually read one comment from someone who played it through that hated it. Most seem to say it has an addictive charm.
It may not be triple A but the devs are small and new with some fresh ideas. I support that.
also, mops.
Wow I didn't even notice this bit. Since I thought Fallout 3 was a trainwreck Metro must be an apocalypse. Thank you for this warning.
See: Anthony's write-up. Everything he says is correct.
Heavy Rain doing better than Sonic All Stars is good though, dont like the game but if its beating that then at least folk are willing to try something different (glances back up at chart)... or not.
Also, having played Fallout 3, 4 times through now, and not having a single issue (ncluding ALL expansions), I have to wonder what some poeple do when playing. That Metro game just looks meh anyway.
Might just be all the hype, but to me the game seems like God of War II got a mushroom power up and everything is a lot bigger, and thats about it.
Like, theres some epic battle scenes and really amazing graphics, and the streamlined gameplay elements like switching weapons on the fly is good, but its the exact same GOW we've played 3 times already.
If I was scoring it, it definitely wouldn't get a 10. More like an 8.
You should have gone Heavy Rain dude, GoW3 was a definite renter for me, but HR was a purchase that i'm still happy with, one for the collection.
...despite only having played through once, I'm looking forward to playing through again.
... so long as you're not praying for it to fail and looking for anything that isn't 100% plot wrinkle free, there are a lot of haters hunting for issues with HR, as there are with any PS3 exclusive.
it's a great experience, as is GoW3 but in a different way.
Rambling now, god it's a slow day today.
You'd think everyone has Wii Fit by now and that no-one would give a flying fuck about Avatar at this point.
I myself didn't see Avatar either. However I've read enough Entertainment Weekly to know that even if Avatar was a perfect movie it would have still lost based solely on the fact that a big budget movie with animation. The Academy is a joke a lot of the time they don't even watch all of the movies in a category they vote on.
Yes I own the game, yes I've played through most of it, and admittedly the game has some issues. As for the 4 (or 5 can't remember) shotgun blasts at point blank issue, that was obviously a one-time glitch. I have never had that issue and have had quite a nice experience close-range blasting some Fascist/Communist fools. Admittedly with the plethora of issues the game has, it is possible that I just may not have had experienced it. But, I find it very difficult to believe a review written by someone who has played very little of the game and whines about hit-detection issues that are non-existant is very reliable. Which brings me to my next point...
The hit detection works, I need to clear this up. Armor degrades after a certain number of hits so an enemy wearing 100 pounds of body armor will take an assload of shots to kill, that is unless you have the brains to shoot off his mask or aim for the oh so enjoyable insta-kill neck shot. The major problem with the game is that the game does not reward the player with enough bullets to kill the bullet absorbing enemies. While this is quite frustrating, I like to believe it greatly adds to the horror aspect of the game. It requires the player to think about how they approach an enemy or manage their short supply of ammo (which is the currency as stated), and adds a difficulty and strategy factor that many, as do I, find quite enjoyable.
I respect your oppinion Jim, but calling a game "broken as fuck" and referencing an article written by a man who obviously has much to learn about HOW to play the game (he stated this himself), yout point is moot.
Oh and please ignore my shitty organization (I am very tired).
No. Everything he says is his opinion of his experience and just as valid as everyone else's opinion, most of which have been that metro is good and not broken. Do you say your reviews are 'correct' and others aren't? no, that would be silly.
I love your writing, i just get the vibe you're hating on this game unfairly, it has it's flaws but it's good points deserve praise too. I implore anyone to play it before they criticise it, out of respect for the devs.

"Since I thought Fallout 3 was a trainwreck Metro must be an apocalypse. Thank you for this warning."
umm.. you read my comment backwards? I said the opposite.
It's a very atmospheric game too, and before you get used to it, outright frightening...
