I have to say that although the game is far from perfect I quite enjoyed it. The Predator campaign was very sweet after I figured out the controls.
Wow! I was considering buying AvP on Friday, but after reading your review i'm not sure. It would be 90% online play for me, so having matchmaking issues and lag really turns me off.
Please be a dear Jimbo and let us know if Rebellion makes any comment regarding the fixing of their borked online.

On another note, i'm quite liking the Heavy Rain adverts on TV right now. Getting me super pumped.

In my eyes, its because Alien is a lot more popular in the UK than the US.
Also withstanding is the fact that it is a british franchise in origin and almost all UK players I have come across play the Alien. I dont think a lot of them care about the predator, and I've always thought the franchise was a lot more relevent on these shores.

First of all, I just wiki'd Aliens Colonial Marines, and it's being written by the dudes that wrote Battlestar Galactica? Wow, that's an automatic win right there.
Secondly, AvP has really began to shine through for me. After playing a bunch and looking past the rough edges, there really is a good solid game to be had there.

Why does this surprise you? People buy MW2 and its the most unblanaced and glitched piece of shit multiplayer ever released in the hands of the general public.

Jim have you learned how to play this game yet? Make the effort to stop mashing and learn how the combat works. For example you dont just mash away at SF4? Ok firstly learn how to recognise an alien charging up a heavy attack. Practice blocking and jabbing with the light when u see the heavy coming. In multiplayer it looks different to campaign but the key is - look for when the alien is not blocking & looks innocuous - the bastard will be charging up a heavy. Secondly never attack a marine from the front. Third never engage in hand to hand without full health. See...

I do get the impression that Jim didn't give Predator's a chance to be honest. It's in no way the Weakest campaign,That honour belongs to the Marines.
Aliens are pretty hopeless against Predators, not the other way round.
I do know Jim is a huuuuuuge Alien fan so I can't blame him for liking the Alien campaign most.

Hell yeah! This game is really entertaining, even in the single player campaigns. I've completed The Xeno and marine ones so far, and kind of dread the predator's. *yawn*
