Release patch removing shitty DRM.
Rinse and repeat/
This game has gone from watching it intently through dev
To squeeling with glee that it was coming to PC
To a screeching halt over the DRM
To serious disappointment face at hearing of the scrimping for the PC ver
And at the end ...... Maybe might possibly consider it if it was on a Steam sale (75-80%) or packaged in a holiday bundle that I wasn't purchasing From Dust for.
Sorry Ubi you killed any hope I had for this game.
Until the PC universe comes up with an effective tool to combat piracy, expect this to continue.
PC players cry because they get the "short end" all the time. This is a good game, no matter what platform you play it on. Maybe it's time to give up on patching, upgrading hardware, patching, updating drivers, patching, installing games, patching, and updating the game, (and patching.) PC gaming is on the decline because of many things, but anti-piracy measures aren't a reason to cry foul.
A lack of a central system to mitigate piracy, i.e. Steam, would be a reason to cry.
I wouldn't say PC gaming is on the decline, if anything console gaming is on the decline... with more patching, updating drivers, installing games and patching than ever before. Consoles this generation are closer to being proprietary PCs than ever before.
Its also fair to say that piracy is just as big a problem for consoles as it is on the PC... so twelve of one, half dozen of the other.
Welcome to the club.
The difference, for me at least, is that I don't have to upgrade my console every time a new game comes out in order for it to work without crashing my system, (with the lonely exception of anything Zipper Interactive publishes.)
Piracy may be an issue for consoles, but Microsoft and Sony seem to have backup plans, (granted, shutting down PSN for 30+ days is extreme, but I digress,) that would get to the heart of the matter. Ultimately, the more affordable, casual computer systems, (i.e. iPads and other tablets,) will cause the PC gamers off into further exile, while the consolers and casuals will drive the market into making more 3DS' and PS Vita-type consoles, but ones with functional cell phones too, (CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW, SONY?!) because who carries a gaming console and a phone as two separate devices anymore?
This club is fun. Do I get a merit badge or something?
You have some weird misconceptions. Upgrading a PC ever time a game comes out? I guess that's as true as saying you have to buy a new 360 every time you turn it on because it's red ringed. In other words it's a stupid thing to say.
PC gaming is doing fine so no one is worried and if you for some reason want to skip a platform with more releases than every console put together then that's your choice. I'd rather play all platforms than cut any out for stupid reasons.
A misconception?
I never have to add memory to or upgrade the video card on my Xbox or PS3.
Explain that.
Go ahead. I'll wait.
If you want to stay cutting edge the whole time you could constantly upgrade I guess but you'd either be an idiot or have too much money.
Actually I just built a pc that is capable of gaming, but not meant for it. Most PC game specs are nearly the same anymore, a decent duo core, and 2gb of ram can run almost anything, you only need to upgrade if you did one of 2 things;
1. Being a tightwad with your components and buying bottom of the barrel shit from a garage sale OR
2. wanting to make everything run on extra high super ultra crysis settings.
Even then the latter isn't always true, I can run deus ex: human revolution on pretty damn high settings with a 3 year old rig.
