There's been a severe lack of Westerns this generation, wouldn't you agree? I think the last one I played was 2005's Gun, and the only reason I enjoyed it was because I had recently had my wisdom teeth removed and was hopped up on medicine.
I'm not entirely familiar with Call of Juarez, but if this new trailer for Bound in Blood is anything to go by, it will satisfy my desire for more Wild West-themed games. Ubisoft was also kind enough to toss a few images our way, which can be seen in the gallery.
Just a heads-up, you'll need to hit the jump to catch the video since it's mature content and all. If you happen to be under the age of 17, don't watch it, or else Freddy Krueger will fondle your unmentionables.
Dtoiders, you tell me -- is it worth my time to seek out the original Call of Juarez?
UBISOFT® SETS TRAILS ABLAZE WITH CALL OF JUAREZ®: BOUND IN BLOODLawlessness Abounds in New Adventure Featuring McCall Brothers
SAN FRANCISCO – February 25, 2009 – Today Ubisoft unveiled the first trailer and game details for Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. Developed by Techland, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is an action-packed, first-person shooter set in the Wild West of the 1800s.
"Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is going to heat things up this summer,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. "With all of the makings of an epic Western, this game will remind players what the genre is all about – outlaws, duels, treasure and women, and will leave them wanting more.” About Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood transports players from a ravaged Civil War-era Georgia to the Aztec ruins of Mexico. In the wildest West ever depicted, players can embody both McCall brothers in an intense storyline full of greed, lust and lawlessness that takes place during a legendary period of American history. Game features include:
-Become a Gunslinger – Harness a variety of weapons from various revolvers to heavy-caliber cannons and machine guns. Every accurate shot increases concentration, which allows players to unleash deadly shooting modes when outnumbered and even deadlier ones when the brothers work together.
-Dual Collaborative Gameplay – Players choose to embody Ray or Thomas, each with a distinctive gameplay style (close or long range), specific abilities (lasso, dynamite, etc.) and arsenal of deadly weapons (dual guns, long-range carbine, etc.). Take advantage of each of their strengths and join in the fiercest fights imaginable.
-Never Before Seen Western Experience – Experience the iconic settings full of outlaws – the West before it was tamed. The McCall brothers face a renegade Apache Chief, a greedy Mexican bandit, a vindictive Colonel, and others, all driven by greed with moral disregard. Enjoy a wide variety of situations, using horses, canoes and wagons to explore the vast natural landscapes of the fabled Wild West and its legendary period.
-Innovative Online Multiplayer – Developed in unison with the single player mode, multiplayer offers numerous modes and maps, resulting in endless hours of Wild West mayhem. Gunslingers, bandits and marshals struggle online for the bounty. Multiple characters are unlocked for team-based objective modes or the straightforward team death match. With a new Bounty system, players increase the bounty on their head with more kills. Get rid of the deadliest among you to increase your bank roll!

I liked Gun, but would have to agree that Call of Juarez was very story-driven. I played it on PC, so I can't speak for the xBawx version. It was a little rough around the edges, but was entertaining nonetheless. Definitely worth checking out. I'm sure the PC demo is still floating around out there.
The PC version is mainly superior due to the DX10 patch (Vista only) that significantly alters the first level of the game, which most people will, in vanilla form, be loathe to complete... but once you do its a decent FPS on rails, and has an interesting 'cat and mouse' storyline mechanic that varies the gameplay nicely.
Call of Juarez bothered me a bit. I never really got into it because I was never quite sure what I had to do next. Like the beginning run sequence after being caught with the whore. Took me forever to swing across the branch with the whip. Then it took me forever to figure out how to escape after steeling those bullets.
I may get into it again, this new one looks great.
I heard it was worth playing on PC, but I can tell you the 360 version is pretty terrible from experience. I much preferred Gun on the 360. I'm actually surprised to see that so many people disliked Gun, I had a lot of fun with that game.
Call of Juarez had a good focus system for slowdown as you drew your guns, but in spite of that it was NOT a good game. Level design was baaad, and the colors always look so washed out you can't see where you're going in some areas.

can't wait for the sequal. as good as the original was, there was potential for an even better game.
I may get into it again, this new one looks great.
