We PC gamers always get buggered by conglomorate companies. Its just another way for Ubisoft to try and grab money... they'll probably charge £30 for a game you can get for £10 on steam. its capitalism on crack. DRM is always bullshit nuff said. Couldn't be arsed to wirte in full sentences thats what ubisoft does to me. Sod off Ubisoft if your not going to make an effort that does not involve fucking up miserably get out and go home. And listen to your consumers for a change!

Steam already burns enough of my limited PC's resources, I don't need to bog it down even more.
Also, wasn't there a Rootkit in their Uplay DRM or something? If I downloaded this I'd probably have 100 different vulnerabilities with all the bullshit it entails.

Everybody loves console exclusive games right? Cool, now we're going to get PC distribution exclusives. Yipee!
don't give a shit about AC3, but when they announce watchdogs as a UPLAY exclusive they will have lost a sale.
it took me a long time to come around to steam. although i did cave and buy HL2, that was pretty much the only reason i had steam at all. after a while it became a really great service which actually improved many of the games it sold due to the use of its steamworks DRM which is the least intrusive and problematic available, and i started using it.
ubishaft's service, like origin is probably intending the get that same start by bundling the software with a guaranteed hit, one so great that most gamers won't be able to resist. only now we all know that their DRM is appalling, that they release substandard PC ports, and that they generally seem to hate PC gamers. sorry, but no. a big no.

It just amazes me how far removed the end user experience is nowadays; it's suppost to be whomever builds the better mousetrap, except we're watching the birth (defects) of mainstream digital distrubution...and none of it is for our benefit, (save for Steam of course).
uPlay is embarresing, Origin insulting...I'm just thankful these massive companies aren't able to create games that even remotely intrest me, lest I'd feel the weight of contributing to the appaling state of the industry as it is now.

Valve does it: 10/10 Steam, we love you! A client that takes a portion of the developer's sales (like how a console publisher does) is awesome for the PC!

I wouldn't even say that steam does it for our benefit. However steam nails enough of the positives with sufficient consistency to not be horrible. I'd still take DRM free over steam any day ^.^

I was laughing my ass off when they first announced that Origin wasn't meant to compete with Steam. I nearly had to buy a new bullshit detector, if I had unplugged it one second later... Ubisoft certainly doesn't have to worry about piracy on my part, seeing as how I have absolutely zero interest in anything they make anymore.
Maybe that's what they're strategy is, for reducing piracy: Drive down interest so much in their product to the point that they can't even give it away. I wish them all the success in that endeavour.

Jim tells like it is. As a PC gamer, I really don't feel like buying directly from Ubisoft... trust has to be earned, the way Valve did.
