Ubisoft says the Wii is for girls photo

Because dividing people by gender is lots of fun for everyone, Ubisoft is claiming that the Wii is a "girl-driven" system, something which the publisher's senior brand manager, Ann Hamilton, thinks lies at the heart of the system's success.

"What’s driving the Wii sales is the use of Wii by women, girls and families," explains Hamilton. "It’s a really female-driven platform."

Ubisoft is never one to keep away from a gravy train, and has already targeted the female demographic with all the enthusiasm of a pedophile in a playpen, with such nonsense as Imagine and Ener G

So, the next time you're looking at someone to blame for the "MTV-ing" of the videogame industrey, please don't blame Nintendo. The blame lies where the blame for everything has lied since the dawn of time -- with women.

(And that was a joke, before anybody gets all stroppy).

Now that we're certain it's for girls, I had better stop finding it outside the kitchen.

I'd rather play with my wife than anyone's "man's system".

Dammit, I thought we we were hiding our meetings of the "Women's Conspiracy to Ruin Gaming For Everyone" so well, but these bastards found us out. It must have been the rhythmic tap-tap-tap of the stylus while we played Cooking Mama DS en masse that gave us away.

Hmmm... Either the guys at Platinum Games are totally unaware of this or Platinum is about to become extremely rich from women who are really demons that love the thought of spurting blood from chopping people with a chainsaw.

Being married for 15 years, I think it's the latter.

@dyslixec:

The scary part is that if you follow the link you'll find out that the person who made that command was a woman! (Ann Hamilton, a senior brand manager with Ubisoft, to be precise!) If they're watching half-naked girls playing Wii on YouTube ...

Then again, that would explain a lot about them...

And you're a lumberjack? Well, you're okay. I'll bet you sleep all night and work all day.

I like playing with my Wii from time to time but it's better when I can get a girl to play with my Wii. Seriously though Ubisoft has no idea what they are doing. I imagine these comments are to help them Imagine Sales. Good luck with that!

I say that the more women and girls play video games the less likely that they will bitch when men and boys play their video games!

(In other words, the gals will leave us men the f*ck alone.)

So Ubisoft, by all means, keep up the good work!

@ everyone who is overreacting and getting all defensive about their Wiis, notice that they didn't say "The wii is a little girls' console and the PS3 and 360 are for manly men!"

They just said that women are driving the sales of the Wii, which is arguably true since a lot of interest in the system has come from girls and women who wouldn't normally be interested in a console.

When my sister saw my Wii (that just sounds wrong) and asked me what games I had, she questioned my game purchasing decisions. "Isn't the Wii more for like, party games with your friends and stuff? Those are like your other video games."

I tried to explain the antics that can ensue during a game of Brawl, but I think it went over her head.

Once again, I guess truth is stranger than fiction..I still find it hard to believe that the majority of buyers/users of the Wii are female. I'm wrong, obviously I guess.

Yet, back when I somewhat predicted this, I thought it was just great to have a Wii in the kitchen. Meaning that the Wii would always be great for distracting the kids so they'd be outta mom or dad's way while they were making lunch. That, and well, the kitchen TV usually isn't in HD.

I love John_B. He's the only hardcore gamer here, it seems.

The Wii is for everyone. It has plenty of great games and it's fun to play on. It's too bad that most of these 13 year olds won't even notice the great library on the Wii under years after it's gone, if ever.

It's very hypocritical to make fun of a specific system or promote only your own and call someone else a fanboy.

Haha, I lol'd at the end.

I'm a man and love the Wii. I could care less what that says about me. I have diverse interests, and the Wii has plenty to go around. And not everything on it is utter crap.

It's like saying the PC gaming is crap, because there are a lot of complete ass games online. It's fucking retarded.
