Not that I would find fault in pirating UbiSoft games, because this attitude the company have is, frankly, disgusting.
At least I can play Rayman Origins WITHOUT piracy.
That'll teach me to install PC hardware freebies.
I'm firmly against pirating software, but given the chance I'd gladly do so with Ubisoft's PC titles. Fuck them. I would even play them, but I'd pirate them anyway.
I did buy Ubisoft's Rayman Origins, but only after confirming that it is DRM free!
They literally endorsed you downloading a crack in order to remove it - they wouldn't tell you it was a crack, they just said they couldn't supply it for you to download and instead told you what to search for.
Good going, Ubisoft. It's a pity - some of my favourite games were made by them (PoP Sands of Time, Beyond Good & Evil, SHIII + more) but I refuse to buy their games these days due to their awful DRM practices.
I hope not. They may not have always-on DRM, but they are usually bugged to hell and poorly crafted. IMO.
And if the plugin is with the other browsers that I never use (Steam), then I'm not worried at all.
Watch Dogs looks amazing, though. Hopefully Ubi will get a f*cking clue by the time it comes out.
*remembers the Steam Summer Sale*
Uh-Oh.
As I have personally stated seeing Ubisoft as the dev/pub is an instant disqualifier for any of their recent game titles.
.......... I sorta secretly hope this turns into a class action. A multi multi million dollar settlement* and a lesson to the WHOLE FUCKING INDUSTRY ABOUT WHAT YOU SHOULDN'T DO WITH DRM.
*yeah the lawyers sop up most of that money but class actions aren't about making money (where the consumers are involved) they are about taking money.
the game looks good, that's all that matters. if they're still using their awful DRM i expect a lot of players will pirate the game and have a great time.
personally i'm not sure what i'll do if they keep up their ridiculous DRM shenanigans. i'm absolutely not above pirating it, as i've paid for horrible DRM plenty of times before and regretted it. the problem is that if the game is as good as it looks i'd be happy to support the creative team that made it, i just won't support UBIs crap DRM.
WHAT DO??
If we pirate the game and after we go to the studio of the guys who created the game and thow a bag full of money in the door and leave?
So... what?
I am at the point now where I really do not give a flying Scotsman. Ubisoft has made chronic errors in their handling of their PC department where I am just going to say go ahead and pirate their crap for any rhyme or reason. They are not going to learn because they have not learned for awhile. People can cite any moral justification but it is really at such a dire point where I if they want to make a genuine effort then all I can say to them is I am still waiting for such an effort to be made.
Let 'em burn I say.
As for Ubisoft, I'm just not going to play Ubisoft games anymore, unless they stop with this shit. I feel like I wasted 6 dollars on the steam sale for Splinter Cell, just because I didn't check to see if it used Uplay. I wouldn't eat at a restaurant where the whole time I was there they treated me like shit, I'm not going to buy games where the publishers treat me like shit, simple as that.
I dunno man, I don't wanna tell you what to do and I don't wanna get preachy about piracy because I've done that enough on here, but if you're addressing me because you wanna discuss it, I don't think stealing games is ever the answer. Not to get sanctimonious on you or anything, that's just how I feel about it.
Frankly nothing's bothered me to the point that I've felt it necessary to boycott any game thus far. Shit just doesn't really get to me like that. If it did though, it seems to me like pussying out if you decide you're boycotting a game and just turn around and steal it and play it anyway. Have some standards, ya know? Just my impression.
