The PlayStation Vita isn't even officially on widespread sale yet, but Ubisoft has wasted zero time in exploiting it for an easy buck. The publisher has never been afraid to fill a system with ports and retreads, but its behavior on the PlayStation Vita is utterly despicable.
Dungeon Hunter: Alliance is a launch title for the PlayStation Vita, but PS3 fans may remember the name. That's because it's currently available via the PSN for $12.99. Mac users may have spotted the game on iTunes, where it costs $0.99 right now.
On Vita? It costs $39.99.
Yes, it's had a few minor alterations, but it's ostensibly a big port. With that in mind, Ubisoft has had the amazing, jaw-dropping gall to sell Dungeon Hunter: Alliance at forty times the price of the original. I'd almost be impressed, if I wasn't so disgusted. There is absolutely no way that Ubisoft can justify a leap in price like that. Even ten bucks is too much, but forty? FORTY!? Wow ... just wow.
I thought you should be warned about what is one of the grossest swindles I've seen in a while. Our review of Dungeon Hunter: Alliance is coming soon.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Balls of Brass, sir. Polished to the ninth degree.
I know that the Asphalt game is a bit more than a straight-up port but it's still a game that was actually given for free at one time on the iTunes store.
I have both versions (I got the PS3 one for $5 on PSPlus), and I was like "I wonder if it's a full fledged sequel?". Nope. Not really. This could have easily been on the Vita's PSN. I mean, it wasn't even a good game! It's just a fun $5 romp for my wife and I.
It's no secret: The early days of a console are prime time for publishers to exploit its audience with rushed ports and marked-up products. What else are people going to buy?
Just like 15$ dlcs
Just like online passes
Just like on-disk dlc
Just like year installments of sports / shooters
This is nothing new, swindling the customer out of as much cash as possible is the current industry norm.
Fuck you Ubishaft.
But these days it takes an internet revolution to get the big guys to even care to notice doesn't it?
God I hope I'm wrong on the last part..
Ubisoft just should not be allowed to get away with it, so shine that spotlight of humiliation on them, I say.
DONT. BUY. IT.
Second, FUCK YOU UBISOFT, really... FUCK YOU
A lot of people are already playing it online and a game store manager told me last night it's a popular pre-order item.
Unfortunately, gamers tend to *love* getting swindled.
Kudos for the Conkers: BFD quote. Oh how I miss that game.
"Have you ever sat on a piece of Gothic architecture? Gets right up your ass you know."
Love it.
Calling it
Are you fucking serious?
/facepalm
I hate gamers sometimes.
Lumines is just Lumines. It pretty much always gets decent ratings because the core game is always good.
As for Rayman, it's a full-on port with LESS features than the console versions. The original game was good, so the port is, too.
It's not like Ubi really did anything exceptional here. They're PORTPORTPORT strategy just worked out for once because no one played the original.
I think calling a company out when they're 90% bullshit and 10% acceptable is still perfectly fine.
ANY American release here is about $116 (dollars), in the last 3 months any Ubisoft's releases (PS3/360)costs about $60~90
They haven't announced yet how much will cost PSVita games
Unless of course they just couldn't be bothered to put the memory card requirements on the box.
Oh do explain how that's warranted here. Or are you just wandering randomly into threads to toss out half-baked accusations?
Really interested to see if you can justify this one.
