While we were busy looking at Ubisoft games that it was actually talking about at E3 last week, the publisher quietly released a trailer for a game it didn't bring to the show, the often delayed and mysterious I Am Alive.

The fresh trailer reveals little more than what we already know about the title, which takes place following a massive earthquake that tears Chicago to pieces. I Am Alive looks to put players in the role a survivor (or perhaps more than one) of the disaster, as people try to pick up the pieces of their lives amidst riots and chaos. Oh, and now we know it goes down on June 9 at 12:44pm. That's helpful.

When we'll hear more about I Am Alive is unknown, but I'd imagine it's getting to the point where most gamers have forgotten about it or have simply lost interest. Surely Ubisoft has been hiding the game because it's a rare gem of a title, right?

[Thanks to spawn210 for the reminder that this existed!]

Hearing the whole "12:44 pm" thing for some reason reminded me of the music video for Warning by Incubus, with the whole 10:24 thing. Actually, I'd play a game based off of that music video.

I really want this to come out. And be good. I loved Disaster Report and Raw Danger, and both of them are Japanese, so I'd love to see a different take on the "disaster survivor" story. Too few games do a survival story that doesn't involve a bunch of crazy aliens or demons.

SO does this mean the zoo animal lied since it wasn't shown at E3? Does it still count? I say a definitive NO.

If they don't get all surreal and put zombies or something like that in there, this concept could be cool!

A true survival game would be awesome. As long as they don't boil it down to crappy, repetitive combat and some shooting, it'll be interesting. Trailer piqued my interest again, so consider them successful.

Things seems like it has been in development hell. We've heard next to nothing about it so I'm guessing it's very likely to be terrible at this point. I'll continue to follow simply in hopes that I may be surprised.

I was in Chile when the earthquake hit in February this year, it was pretty scary. Not as dramatic as this trailer, but the you are definitely disoriented. You don't know what's going on other than your immediate surroundings. And the people on the streets looting... scary stuff.
I hope this game is half as scary. I might consider picking it up.

This is the only Ubisoft produced game I have had interest in in a long time. Glad to see it back on the scene after the developer change.

they should put it out with xbox live/psn multiplayer make half a mmo out of it where you have to survive a scenario... And at any point someone can join your scenario and try to kill you for your valuable goods... Thing is they shouldspawn comp[letely at random.

I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.
Aperture Science
We do what we must
because we can.
For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who are dead.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.
I'm not even angry.
I'm being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart.
And killed me.
And tore me to pieces.
And threw every piece into a fire.
As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!
Now these points of data make a beautiful line.
And we're out of beta.
We're releasing on time.
So I'm GLaD. I got burned.
Think of all the things we learned
for the people who are still alive.
Go ahead and leave me.
I think I prefer to stay inside.
Maybe you'll find someone else to help you.
Maybe Black Mesa
THAT WAS A JOKE.
HAHA. FAT CHANCE.
Anyway, this cake is great.
It's so delicious and moist.
Look at me still talking
when there's Science to do.
When I look out there, it makes me GLaD I'm not you.
I've experiments to run.
There is research to be done.
On the people who are still alive.
And believe me I am still alive.
I'm doing Science and I'm still alive.
I feel FANTASTIC and I'm still alive.
While you're dying I'll be still alive.
And when you're dead I will be still alive.
STILL ALIVE

Anyone know if this is an open world game? I think that would really make all the difference.

That looks to me like mostly in game assets, otherwise the CG looks pretty terrible when compared to the first trailer.
