Ubisoft's I Am Alive may feature multiplayer photo

We don't know much about Ubisoft's I Am Alive, outside of its post-catastrophic-earthquake Chicago setting and that the publisher has been extremely quiet about the title.

Here's some more vague information: the game may feature a multiplayer component. Spotted by Blend Games, the LinkedIn profile of Ubisoft Game Director Paul Robinson drops a strong hint.

"We are doing some exciting stuff," he writes in his profile, "and if you are a leap mp designer, drop me a line."

The "mp," for those of you who are slow, means "multiplayer." With I Am Alive reportedly being a first-person title and every first-person title required to have a multiplayer component (clearly), this isn't entirely surprising. But what kind of "exciting stuff" in terms of multiplayer could Ubisoft be doing with the disaster setting?

I Am Alive is scheduled for release in Ubisoft's next fiscal year, at which point it's entirely possible it'll be delayed until the next fiscal year. We'll believe it when we see it.

It may also feature circus midgets, rape, arson, murder, and rape.

I'm just kidding, there is no chance of midgets. Circus especially.

I want a mode called "Capture the Water Bottle", then I'll be happy.

if this game is heavily story driven, I could almost see this becoming something akin to Left 4 Dead-style multiplayer where you have to help each other out to survive etc., and that could be quite interesting in the setting they seem to be aiming for.

then again, this is Ubisoft, so I have my doubts.

A story drive multiplayer mode, where each player participates in their own story branch which slowly intertwines at the end. I'm up for that.

This could be interesting but I haven't heard much about the game. Still waiting for the day someone makes an MMO where you are just trying to survive. Find food, make trade, etc. I kept hoping one of the millions of zombie games to flood out would be like this, but no luck. Zombie Fort came close, but missed the mark in so many ways.

Would rather play 28 days later hiding in candy stores anyday then slay my millionth dragon.

Maybe this means this game is a MMO

The same thing stuck my mind as you're saying. I mean, its not a shooter, unless I've missed something. So it has to be some sort of survivor mode where you have to help people get through obstacles like boosting player over ledges, the other player pulling people up, or splitting up and gathering various debris to get over gaps and obstacles, put out fires, all the while avoid enemies...

IDK. Guess we'll see, but I doubt this MP will be anything typical. Or so I hope,

Eskimo Bob has the right idea. That's what was missing from the later survival sequels that dealt with multi-character narratives, e.g. Raw Danger and Lost In Blue 2 & 3. I don't mind them not being there, but I think that would be thing to break out of the niche market for these kinds of games.

I still have no faith in I Am Alive though. Better off just replaying SOS: The Final Escape/Disaster Report.

"But what kind of "exciting stuff" in terms of multiplayer could Ubisoft be doing with the disaster setting?" you could save 132 out of like 500,000 haitians buried in rubble. that should be enough for some excitement.
