Ubisoft has officially revealed its new Assassin's Creed, and as we expected, it's Assassin's Creed: Revelations.
Revelations finds Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood protagonist Ezio Auditore following in the footsteps of Altair. The game will find Ezio in Constantinople, where Templars are up to no good and trying to destabilize the heart of the Ottoman Empire.
The multiplayer experience from Brotherhood is back, too, with new modes, fresh maps and characters, and more.
Revelations is scheduled for a November release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. (Note: Should I just write the PC delay story now or what?) Game Informer has the exclusive goods on this one, with the June issue detailing the title we'll see and hear more about at E3.

I'll be interested to see where they go with this one in terms of cross-era gameplay. If the game has both Altair and Ezio going through Constantinople, I'd love for there to be gameplay where Altair must do something in order to make something possible for Ezio, or for Ezio to find out an event occurred so the player knows how to correctly sync a memory for Altair.
Plus, there's always the possibility that Desmond could also get in on the action. Three assassins in three timelines would be super cool.
When are we gonna get Assassin's creed 3 and finish up the series? They can do these side-story games after the fact, can't they?
Feel free to pass the torch anytime. He's creeping into Old Snake territory, for sure.
I mean, more AC, heck yeah! Cool new setting, which should come with some excellent history lessons. And ANY excuse to refresh the multiplayer scene is welcome: Best multiplayer mode I've played in a while. But... a new character would be nice.
Though I'll be honest and say that when I first saw the image on the Facebook page I was pretty pumped out a new assassin.
Well, Brotherhood definitely takes the story forward. There really isn't any side stepping here. I wouldn't expect Revelations to be an optional side story to the main arc here.
But still I was also hoping for something entirely new.
I took Kojima 3 console generations before we ever got a 4th Metal Gear Solid. We're getting 4 AC titles in a single generation... CoD is on it's sixth for this gen this year (3, 4, WaW, MW2, Blops, MW3?)...
I suppose the length of this console gen could have us seeing unprecedented number of series titles appearing in a single gen, but when you're pushing out a title a year it really just starts feeling like any sense of creativity has been stripped away in favor of just popping out another one. No wonder there isn't a new assassin. They don't have time to even make one properly...
Its "milking", but I don't think its a bad thing. Like, at all.
Its kinda like Mega Man.
you forgot CoD2
1 city, two time periods.
As for Desmond, spoiler, he is in a coma. Playing out ezios life, how can we get any character development from him?
And that certainly doesn't stop other cells from breaking him out at the beginning of Revelations. IMO, its a nice conceit to letting the player play through Brotherhood once the story concludes.
Megaman is the king of cows. Moooooo
i love the Assassin's Creed series but they definitely need to put this series a little break.
But is that inherently bad? Guitar Hero or Tony Hawk ran into the ground because there wasn't much else to build on top of those IPs. But those first 6 MM + 9 and 10: they pumped'em out, but they also turned out a product that hit its audience up regularly with good new content. It became a level design showcase, which was great. No need to develop an all new character, or even a completely new control scheme. Not broken.
Some people got tired of that, but I think it was a pretty brilliant way to iterate directly on top of existing familiar and fun gameplay.
Still holding out hope for a Victorian London AC game. Don't let me down, Ubisoft.
I want to love you Assassin's Creed. Why won't you let me love you?
The series is getting better with time but it's doing so sooooo slowly.
I'll keep an eye on this as the release date nears before i make a more concrete judgement...
People would probably stop bitching if the full price was reduced but would also mean number 3 would have to be radically suped up to reflect what a sequel should be if they're going to milk out 2's core mechanics.
Also, GameInformer is reporting Altair is playable in this game as well.
Do you honestly think they'll end it with #3 though? Much like GRRM's ASoIaF series which was originally planned as a trilogy, you just take it as far as you want.
They 'said' it was supposed to be a trilogy, but clearly that isn't the case anymore. Whether they slap a 3 on the game or not, the series isn't going to end there. We all know it by now. They will take this game as far as they can by using the numbers to signify when a new assassin protagonist comes along and that's it.
This is sadly what happens when a good idea is successful and the publishers take control. What was supposed to be contained within 3 games is now going to be spread across something in the realm of 10 and it won't make the series better; just long winded and unnecessary for the sake of more greenbacks in Ubi's coffers.
