Ubisoft officially reveals Bloody Good Time photo

Following the weirdo and random faux movie posters we were sent earlier this week, Ubisoft has officially announced Bloody Good Time for Xbox Live Arcade and Steam.

In development by Outerlight (The Ship), Bloody Good Time is a multiplayer first-person shooter powered by Valve's Source engine. Players are put on a Hollywood-style set -- like a spring-break beach house or Las Vegas hotel -- and are forced to kill each other using whacky weapons. And these weapons are totally whacky -- a frying pan, an exploding remote-controlled rat, and… guns!

The game has online support for eight players, each of which can choose from stereotypical b-movie types, like a bikini babe, a scary clown, a jock, and more. Sounds like, er, a bloody good time? Yeah, I've got nothing here.

I don't have high hopes for this game.

Is it me or is Ubisoft starting to get some Activision connotations?

Sounds Bloody useless if you ask me. Nothing to be worked up for anyway.
Just make another Rabbids game, surely that could have sufficed?

Don't we already have team fortress as the wacky shooter?

I've heard good things about The Ship. It has a bit of an underground fanbase. Hopefully that means summing for Bloody Good Time.

Doesn't look that good for a source game... I thought we've established that this console can haul ass graphically.

So it's basically The Ship, but more different.

Okay.

Why all the hate? The ship's multiplayer component was amazing (too bad I got into the game too late). It may just be another remake of the ship, but if it'll bring back a community to have fun and play the game with then why not?

Giving it a whacky aesthetic doesn't change the fact that this just sounds like another deathmatch-style multiplayer game. Maybe there's more to it and Ubisoft is holding back, but from that press release it sounds nothing like The Ship.

Yeah... this game doesn't look like much from the screens. Just looks like another Team Fortress type of game. Which I thought we already have quite a few of on the market already.

Including a sci-fi esque? "Monday Night Combat", a cowboy one "Lead and Gold", and of course Team Fortress... so we're getting another game just like those but with "wackier" characters? No thanks. If the above games aren't what I say they are then excuse me... that's just what they look like.

Gotta love the Ubisoft hate when they're not even the developers of the game...

The Ship seemed like a very interesting idea so I'll be looking forward to more information on this one.

I thought it sounded like a generic FPS until you mentioned wacky weapons. Now I know it's a generic FPS with a frying pan instead of a knife, and a rat bomb in place of a remote bomb.

It's confusing how cartoon graphics instantly mean Team Fortress 2 ripoff to people. What in the god bubbling name of fuck looks like TF2 here?

Sold. Or at least I would be if it sounded even remotely original.

What's with all the grumpires here? Cartoon fps does not automatically mean TF2 clone.

Looks more like The Ship crossed with Timespliters which is fine by me.

Based on this batch of screenshots, the quality of this game looks like it's being developed by an amateur PC mod team. Wtf Ubi? — Oh wait, I see it's being developed by the guys that made The Ship. I guess it's more understandable now since that team actually started as modders. But even then, I'd expect those guys to pump up their visual finesse a bit.

Hope they work it out. Nevertheless, I support all my indie devs, good or bad.

I can understand the "generic multiplayer shooter" comments, but the hate for the graphics? It actually looks well designed, which is more than I can say for 90% of games today. Not brown enough, I guess. No aliens with spikes coming out of every pore. Or armor with abused specular maps. Okay.

But still... "generic multiplayer shooter."

Well, Outerlight was alright. Might be good.

I don't think it's 'whacky" though, but "wacky". Whacky is something you'd use to describe a thudding noise, perhaps.

I agree with the usage "videogames", though.

For a fraction of a second there I thought the title said "Ubisoft officially reveals Beyond Good & Evil 2".
