Ubisoft not commenting on new Prince of Persia game photo

Ubisoft has issued a “no comment” to CVG regarding the slated spring reveal of the rumored next Prince of Persia videogame.

Speaking at a recent preview event for the Prince of Persia film, an unnamed movie team member told Web site Neoseeker that a new Prince of Persia videogame was set to be revealed in Spring 2010. Light on information, the person -- representative, Jerry Bruckheimer, whoever -- added little, saying they aren’t the right people to give out details.

Seeking confirmation, CVG asked about the title. They received a no comment line.

One doesn’t necessarily need a crystal ball to see if Ubisoft is working on another Prince of Persia videogame -- it’s hard to believe they wouldn’t be considering the success of the series. But there have been a few possible developments on this front.

Early last month, we reported the discovery of a mention of a new Prince of Persia from a Ubisoft character modeler. More interestingly -- and included the aforementioned article -- Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner has filed for the trademark Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.

Of course, there's nothing solid here -- the videogame team isn't commenting and a LinkedIn profile or a trademark filing don't confirm like a picture or official announcement does, but we're willing to guess, just throwing it out there, that a new Prince of Persia is happening. We'll know soon enough, it seems.

...it would really do people good just to say NOTHING

No "no comment"

Especially Ubisoft, I remember when there was that giant leak that showed off concept art for Prince of Persia, Conviction, and other future Ubi games.

But really, a "no comment" comment is essentially "Yes, the game is coming, and I don't know how this fuckhead found out about it, but I can't say anything due to legal issues"

The recent Prince of Persia was my first entry to the entire series, and I gotta say I absolutely loved it. Can't wait to see more.

I honestly hope this is better than the last game if this is real. The previous prince of persia, subjectively, was significantly boring, save for the boss sections.

The art style was great, the platforming was.. fun, if not a bit bland. And then throwing in the light seed collection to expand the girth of the game was disappointing too. I bought the game for PC and forced myself to finish it almost half a year later. Love Nolan North, though. Amazing voice actor.

We were told we couldn't reveal stuff from the Q&A until this Wednesday! =(

At any rate, it was Jordan Mechner who said that Ubisoft will have stuff to reveal about a new Prince of Persia game.

I hope it's a sequel to the 08 reboot. I fell in love with that game <3

When I finished the last game about a year ago I was really looking forward to the next one... until I played the epilogue. Now, I don't really care. They seriously ruined one of the best ending to a video game I had ever seen.

Hopefully no more DLC chapters... that was just sorta annoying, as it provided no better of an ending than the first one in my opinion..

The ending of the last Prince of Persia, though not wholly satisfying at the time, now sits well in memory. The whole game was strong, except for the combat, which was horrible. That was the only black mark on what was otherwise one of my favorite games for awhile new.

OH I hope it NEVER gets released, the last one was an insult to pop fans like myself

OH i can't WAIT for it to be released, the last one was amazing and a wonderful, meditative, painting and world to get absorbed into.

Like someone above said: I fell in love with it.

Man, why the hate for the last PoP? I love the series--save for Warrior Within just being too dark and too hard to control. The last incarnation was beautiful, well-voiced, and lots of fun to play, even if it was just stringing button combos. But wait, that's what fighting games do too! So what's the problem?

Honestly, it was a well-crafted game.

Bring back the time control and you got it.

Will the game be a collectathon again inside a faux platformer where you can die after falling 10 feet, off a ledge you weren't "supposed" to jump off?

The art style was fantastic, and that's worth a rental...I guess. Out of the last 10 years, I've only had 3-4 games in total that I had to struggle to beat (not because it was hard, but because it was so repetitive/unfun): this is one of them.

I loved the new PoP. Couldn't care less about last gen's trilogy and its fans moaning all the time.

Take out Elika and put the puzzles back in. Then I'll be happy. Keep the graphics though.

Keep the artstyle, make it more difficult and a better story would be nice...

Well considering the ending of PoP, there kind of HAS to be a sequel really.

I found the 2008 entry to be terrible. I remember how excited I was the morning it came out on Steam and how I downloaded it with a nervous jitter, but then I played it and realized it was more Guitar Hero than Prince of Persia. It's basicaly a rhythm game, rather than a platformer, and a mind-numbingly simple one at that.

I guess it gets a 6 or 7 based solely on the pretty graphics and such, but it just wasn't Sands of Time level quality at ALL, and practically another genre entirely.

Fact that they charged for the "real ending" left a bad taste in my mouth.

Hahaha, I'm not usually one to parade around with the "This isn't news," stick but this is stretching it mighty mighty thin.

The need to revamp the entire gameplay. Whether the "hold your hand" platforming, and the combat.

More 2008 PoP would be fantastic. I think that game is my favourite one ever, given the feel and utterly beautiful art style. A few more puzzles would improve it though, but you better keep Elika in!
