Ubisoft has a death wish: Puts Endwar up against Gears and Resistance sequels photo

Here's a protip for anybody in the games industry: Releasing a title on the same day that Gears of War 2 and Resistance 2 are due to launch is probably not a clever idea.

Nevertheless, Ubisoft seems to have either made a miscalculation or is supremely confident by announcing that Tom Clancy's Endwar will hit European shelves on November 7 -- directly competing with Gears and more than likely Resistance, which will probably hit on the same day too.

For those who may have forgotten, Endwar is an RTS which is controlled by a voice-recognition system. A "VIP" demo is available for those who pre-ordered the Xbox 360 version of the game from Gamestation, which will hit next month.

One can't help but feel that Ubisoft would rather avoid releasing this game on a day where it will more than likely be completely overshadowed by two huge console exclusives. This is definitely one release date that I will expect to see change before November rolls around.

Eh, I'm actually more excited to try out EndWar than the other two games, because with those two, I already know exactly what I'm getting into.

Endwar is kinda lame. But more power to them if they have this much belief in their game.

Id' rather have HAWX than EndWar, to be honest.

As long as I get my Far Cry 2, Ubi can release End War whenever they want.

I really don't think the RTS and FPS markets overlap enough for this to matter.

It's actually smarter than most people initially think. I mean, it's a completely different type of game than both Gears and Resistance, and it probably is interesting to a completely different aurdience, one that wouldn't pick up Gears and/or Resistance immediately (or at all). I'm sure that Ubisoft thought it through more than us on the outside (yes, that means you too original poster of this blog...)

I don't know about that Tmills - I kind of agree with Jim on this. Ubisoft have to have forgotten what else was due on that date or something - you'd need to be a retard to imagine your game could keep up with Gears 2 (disclaimer - I never bothered finishing the first one, found it all a bit average TBH). Releasing the week after Fallout 3 is pretty tough too.
I have some hard decisions to make over the next few weeks - this is just one more. Hopefully the EndWar beta will be as good as my mate says it is /crosses fingers
