"They forced us to go at E3 2012," Watch Dogs Creative Director Jonathan Morin said in an interview with Edge. "Yves [Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft] was the one who wanted us to go at that E3, even though we felt it was a bit early." Morin followed, "in the end I think he was right."
Sneaking Watch Dogs into a weak-ish 2012 E3 lineup and getting its name circulating before next gen hyped subsumed the discourse seems to have worked, even if Ubisoft needed a six month delay. Suspecting new consoles, Watch Dogs development began on PC so that the team would, "have the flexibility to adapt to a different platform."
Morin also gave out some minimum PC specs on Twitter: "Min: IntelCore 2 Quad Q8400 2.66Ghz or AMDPhenom II X4 940 3.0Ghz, 6GB RAM, 1024 VRAM DirectX 11 Shader 5.0 SCard: DirectX9 25 GB."
