Ubisoft finally announces Rabbids Go Home for the Wii photo

Today, Ubisoft announced that it will be bringing Rabbids Go Home to the Wii this holiday.

Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier (Beyond Good and Evil, Peter Jackson's King Kong), the game is apparently powered by a new engine designed specifically for the Wii. Also, it should be noted that this is not a mini-game collection; Ubisoft are calling it a "comedy-adventure." More information about the game can be found in the May issue of Nintendo Power, apparently, so keep an eye out for that.

Whispers of a Rabbids Go Home have been circulating for nearly a year, and late last year a trademark for the title had been uncovered. It's great that Ubisoft have finally decided to announce the game, and even better that it appears like it'll be fully Rabbids adventure as opposed to whacky games for the whole family. We've had quite enough of those at this point, haven't we?

UBISOFT® SAYS RABBIDS GO HOME

Raving Rabbids Break Out with First Standalone Title

SAN FRANCISCO – April 9, 2009 – Today Ubisoft announced that the Rabbids will receive their own standalone brand with the Holiday 2009 release of the comedy-adventure Rabbids Go Home. Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, the team behind Beyond Good & Evil®, Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie and the original Rayman Raving Rabbids®, the game will benefit from a new engine designed specifically for the Wii(TM) home video game system from Nintendo, offering the Rabbids a hilarious adventure in a brand new universe.

The Rabbids are already beloved the world over, selling 6.5 million copies of their raving adventures and starring in their own series of videos that have kept web surfers laughing for years.  Moving up to top billing with their own brand of games was a logical next step and fans will now be able to enjoy the fun in this humorous adventure game where the Rabbids unleash their insanity onto the human world as they attempt to return to their Rabbid home.

Look for more information on Rabbids Go Home in the May issue of Nintendo Power magazine.

Should be fun. I own the first Rabbids game, and it's nice I guess, but an adventure game would be way better.

I remember when Rayman didn't have Rabbids and it was just a standard but fun platform adventure game. Seeing this, maybe there is a chance that I can be convinced that Rabbids are not all bad. We'll just to wait and see how this pans out.

My wife and I think the Rabbids are great! The multiplayer is great when you have people over and it never ceases to makes someone burst out laughing.
I hope this will be as good. The first one was a bit tough on the Wii due to imprecise motion controls.
This one sounds like it might be good, we will be watching the reviews.

Honestly, Rayman needs to be laid to rest. Compared to the Rabbids (who should be UBI's corporate icons), Rayman has no personality and is as endearing as a used can of Spam faux-meat.
So huzzah to this news. It's about damn time.

OMG, finally. I know Rabbids belong in a better place than minigames. I want a platformer so badly, and I just know that Rabbids could be put to good use.

MORE RABBIDS
