Ubisoft announces new Prince of Persia for consoles, PC, Nintendo DS photo
     Prince of Persia

A press release just landed in my inbox from Ubisoft, announcing that a new Prince of Persia title is scheduled to be released this holiday for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The game is being developed by Ubisoft's Montreal studios, the same team who created the Prince of Persia trilogy and Assassin's Creed.

Ubisoft doesn't give many specifics, not even giving the game an official name. Might I suggest "Prince of Persia Prodigy"? They do tease that the game is the opening of a new chapter in the Prince of Persia universe, saying that the game features a 'new breed of gameplay" and will introduce a "brand-new illustrative art style."

A completely separate Prince of Persia title is also being designed for the Nintendo DS, and will feature an entirely new storyline and new characters. With Ubisoft's media day right around the corner, we should be hearing more on these titles in the coming month.

Ubisoft has sucked for the last few years. Ever since splinter cell conviction was revealed I've stopped caring about any of their games.

So your saying an upgrade from 2d to 3d is too cartoonish?

Now, I have heard everything.

Praise the internet.

Awww, that dude in the picture looks so sad that the only gaming character he looked like was Prince of Persia...maybe in your next life you'll look like Kratos.

I'm glad to hear it and kind of bummed. I don't like the idea of the developer juggling the two series. It means I have to wait longer for Assassin's Creed 2 (I loved the first) or less quality control (something the game suffered from initially to hit the fall release---later patched).

I do love the idea that it's a new character and a new story unrelated to the previous trilogy. As long as the Prince isn't emo and into death metal I'm on board.

Well I'm excited. I really liked Warrior Within and Two Thrones. Sands of Time, not so much.

Oh I just loved the PoP games. Warrior Within was my absolute favorite: concept, story, gameplay, puzzles, hidden weapons (I would only give up the Teddy Bear for the Yellow-Green sword)

But best of all in a game about a character trying to change his fate, you the player can change the ending of the game. And I don't just mean the final cutscene, I'm talking about changind THE FINAL BOSS of the game!! That's right.

Ooo... pants are tight right now...

They better get at work, I hope they know now that by now... it doesnt matter if they send a good looking chick to do the marketing, if the game is repetitive its not like repetitive sex with the hot chick of marketing... is just a repetitive game, WITHOUT THE SEX!

This coming winter? Seems so far away, but I can wait. Gives me enough time to go through Sands of Time one more time, and maybe even get the other two.

This is great news. I loved The Sands of Time and The Two Thrones on the PS2, and I’m excited to see what Ubisoft Montreal can pull off on current-gen systems.
