Ubisoft announces 'Fortune's Pack' DLC for Far Cry 2 photo

If you haven't had enough of malaria and the hot, African sun, Ubisoft's got you covered.

The publisher has announced today that it will be releasing a downloadable content package for Far Cry 2 by the end of November. Called "The Fortune's Pack," it will add two new vehicles (the Unimog and the Quad), along with three new weapons (silenced shotgun, sawed-off shotgun, and crossbow). All of the vehicles and weapons will be accessible in both single-player and multiplayer modes.

Speaking of multiplayer, the DLC also adds four new maps -- "Cheap Labor," "Last Resort," "Lake Smear," and "Fort Fury."

The pack will be available for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and will cost $9.99 or 800 MS Points, respectively. Do you guys think this new Far Cry 2 content warrants this price tag? Will it add enough gameplay to justify spending your cash?

God damn to think it was three years ago I was picking up a 360 and excited about what DLC would offer us this gen. And then it's nothing but shit like this. Bullshit. Complete bullshit. The game is huge fucking letdown anyway. Glorified tech demo.

Buying maps on a game where you can make your own maps? LAME!

Well atleast they are releasing content while the game is still sort of new. So in that respects they are doing it right. instead of like GTA where it takes 8 months after the game comes out to release it.

Maybe they should patch the massive, gamebreaking glitch that corrupts people's save files at 70% before they start releasing second rate DLC! Maps = pointless considering its got a map editor, extra weapons = something we really don't want to see in games with multiplayer since it could mean that people who 'only' have the retail version are at a disadvantage. Double lame.

That is a ridiculous amount of money, considering what you get for it.

DLC is the cancer killing the game industry.

How about they release a patch to make the game stop being a giant piece of shit.

I cannot how fathom how so many magazines have rated this game highly when its so terrible.

Maybe $7 or $8. $10 seems a bit much, but at least it's got more value than the Halo 3 map packs.

Ahh.. but herein lies the question, will this DLC make multiplayer unbalanced? what about the havenot's who dont purchase the DLC. It would be wickedly unfair for me to buy a game, enjoy the multiplayer experience, only for Ubisoft to screw me over by releasing DLC whch gives those with deeper pockets an advantage.

What would be extra shady is if the weapon content was already on the gamedisc and all you were doing by purchasing the DLC is unlocking it.

Or moreover if developers have started to hold back on content which should be provided with the game, just to release it as DLC and make an extra buck down the line.

@Board Monster: It happens all the time and it's just beyond my comprehension how shaddy it is.

Jesus, so thats the way of games these days? Release it, weeks later charge $10-15 more for DLC for extra fun that should have been included in the first place?

DLC is optional sure, but I remember when those options were free and meant to entice people to buy a game because it has so much to offer. Something seems a bit off to me here.

the whole game should have been DLC for the original Farcry.

I miss when games like Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 just gave stuff away because they had a great game. Now, the shittier the game the more DLC to try and prop it up. How long till we are paying for bug fixes that are purposly coded into the game?

"Buy the new DLC for Crysis7 and your saved games will not dissapear!"

Been done wasting money on shit like this for a while.

Just another reason why Valve > Ubisoft. They release massive updates for free. And you know what? When they dom, their sales climb again. Even when priced at full retail.

Funny how that works.

Developer/Publisher respect is reciprocated by the customer. It amazes me that publishers have not figured this out yet.

@ BoardMonster

happens all the time - SCIV DLC costumes were already on the disc, the download just unlocks them. Now that is fucking criminal
