Ubisoft announces E3 details, hosted by Talk Soup star photo

God knows I've sat through many an award show hosted by a celeb delivering poorly scripted jokes to have developed some sort of resistance to that sort of thing, but I have to say I never expected to suddenly find this to be a problem during a press conference from a gaming company. If this becomes a trend, I'd like to request Mike Tyson as a future host. Who would Nintendo choose, if they had to? Miley Cyrus?

Anyway, Ubisoft is having a press conference at E3 on June 1st at the Los Angeles Theatre, and it's going to be hosted by Joel McHale, the comedian that stars in the E! show The Soup as well upcoming NBC series The Community. Odd choice, Ubi, but ok. Nothing against Joel or anything, but it's still weird to have a comedian hosting a press conference in my mind.

Anyway, Ubi says items on the menu include Rabbids Go Home and completely new stuff from Red Steel 2 and Assassin's Creed II. They also tease "unannounced titles and special guests" so it sounds like we could have some solid stuff to look forward to. Do you have any ideas about what they might pull out of their hat?

UBISOFT® TO REVEAL HOLIDAY LINEUP DURING E3 PRESS CONFERENCE

SAN FRANCISCO – May 7, 2009 – Today Ubisoft® announced that their E3 press conference will be held at the Los Angeles Theatre on June 1, 2009 at 5 pm (doors open at 4 pm).  The press conference is by invitation only to Ubisoft partners, investors, retailers and select media. It will also be broadcast online for the public the following morning at: http://www.ubi.com.

During the press conference Ubisoft will unveil its lineup for Holiday 2009 and beyond including a demonstration of the eagerly anticipated new comedy-adventure Rabbids Go Home®, and exclusive reveals of Red Steel® 2  and the massively popular Assassin's Creed® II, as well as other unannounced titles and special guests that are certain to thrill attendees and web viewers. The event will be hosted by actor and comedian Joel McHale, writer/ producer/ star of E!'s The Soup and star of NBC's upcoming comedy series "The Community”.

Ubisoft's website (http://www.ubi.com) will host select information direct from Ubisoft's booth at E3, giving fans access to exclusive interviews and trailers of Ubisoft games.

I've actually seen McHale live @The Warner in DC and... well... you want him to have a script when he tells jokes. He's not bad, just not good, but he's much better on The Soup (not sure about the upcoming show The Community, though). The worst part is that his 'good' material is regurgitations of the stories from The Soup.

But wasn't some other publisher event last year hosted by some other comedian, someone I've never even heard of so I can't recall a name? Don't think this was the first event to be hosted like this.

I like Joel McHale, but it is weird to think of him hosting an E3 press conference. Also, heading should just be The Soup and delicering is not a word, to the best of my knowledge. I'm sorry, Samit made me do it.
