The sequel to one of the worst RPGs this generation, Two Worlds 2, finally has a teaser site along with a brand new trailer. I still can't believe a sequel is actually being made, but it's very real and we all have to deal with it.

The trailer is ... something ... I suppose. It seems to involve a ninja running around while Mumra from Thundercats screams at a Chaos warrior from Warhammer. Then the Chaos dude fights an orc quietly in a room and suddenly dies with absolutely no fanfare. This is epic fantasy.

It's due out in Spring 2010, and none of us can wait.

Oh, may I vomit uncontrollably now?

That was the only reaction the first game encouraged.

It's almost as if they tried to make the trailer as un-epic and unimpressive as humanly possible...

This trailer went through a very difficult process called 'Tension Extraction'.

Worst RPG of this generation?

More like all time.

Needless to say, I will be playing this game. It is truly something that must be experienced.

I've seen better character animations in Full Life Consequences. Why did someone think this needed a sequel. The only good that could come out of this is an entertaining videogame show.

I can't be the only person who thinks that sounds awesome. Also, suitcoatavenger nailed the description perfectly for this game.

I've seen worse. The graphics look decent (assuming this was done on the game engine) and with better voice acting (or recording, or editing, whichever failed here), music and directing it could be a decent trailer.

Ok, I am not going to lie as I am from Topware Interactive and wanted to comment on the posts about the in game and not CGI teaser trailer. All of what you have seen is done on the game engine and not in a CGI studio.

There will of course be a huge CGI trailer as well so stay tuned.

However, I want to make something very clear - Two Worlds 2 will be a far cry for the first game. It will be a very pleasant surprise to Mr. Sterling as, on top of a very rich and rewarding first person campaign, it will also deliver the biggest multi-player component ever scene to date on a non-MMO RPG. In fact, I would like to invite Mr. Sterling to our studio at my cost to see for himself and not just take my word for it.

In closing, we realize that Two Worlds had its' issues and in going into the development of the sequel Topware took all of the feedback both negative and positive in the making of Two Worlds 2. For example: Two Worlds 2 is being written and scripted by North American gaming veterans and all the voice acting is being done in North America along with the executive producer being a veteran of this genre. Everything that can be Mo-Caped is being Mo-caped to deliver a very real look to all of the characters. The gaming engine is built from the ground up for each individual platform to maximize its' delivery for each system, the team is double the size of the original team with many new and important faces added to the mi,. etc, etc

In the end, we know we have to deliver a great game - all we are asking is that the gaming community keep an open mind along the way.

I can be reached at jseaman@topware.com if you have any suggestions and/or comments.

All the best

James

Oh please do tell me, who in the world thought that this would be a good idea? Two World One was bad (and I mean BAD). Now they are taking the bad-ness (not to confuse with "badass-ness") to a new level? Wow, just wow. I like the graphics though (except for those nasty nasty animations, and the awesome plastic blood).

That wasn't CGI?!?! Well then, in that case, its amazing!

No wait, its still laughably bad. The animation is god awful, the art direction is all over the place. It looks unoriginal, uninspired, and the name sucks. If you had named it anything other than Two Worlds 2 I would have just continued to lurk in the comments but I really felt the need to login and get in on this.

Related Story:
For about 6 months leading up to the release of Two Worlds, one of the local Gamestop employees was hyping this to me every time I was in the store. After 30 seconds of research, I told him that it would likely be a horrendous pile of shit. We got into many arguments about it. He bought it on release day and traded it in shortly thereafter and admitted defeat to me. This trailer is a good opportunity to bring up his failure again. I feel its the only course of action that doesn't involve violence.

Wow Jimmy, that was kinda bad. All those buzzwords and phrases that are pretty much gonna lead to huge letdowns. Assuming people haven't seen the trailers like this one. Then they'll just assume you're full of it. That trailer was god awful. You ask for open minds and then you deliver this filth...honestly if you wanted the game to get a fair shake you should have kept this vid under wraps.

@ Jimmyz66 - you are a brave soul sir, I commend you on that. What are your thoughts on this trailer compared to the actual game being made as far the voice acting, characters etc?

I never played the first game so I have an open mind about this, but much convincing needs to be done.

I look forward to showing this game to the press very soon and I look forward to making believers of all of most of you as every one has there own personal taste when it comes to RPG's. No worries if you did not like the first teaser trailer as it is built on the alpha engine of the game, but stay tuned as you will all be pleasantly surprised in the months to come.

We have writers from the original gold box series from SSI, Dead Space, Myst, and other veterans working on a very deep and engaging story as well as an epic multi-player component.

Jim email me or call Sandbox for a time and place in the near future. I look forward to showing you the game and in the mean time send me your address as I will send you some more information that will show in detail where are going with the game.

Your critique will be taken very seriously as this game is still close to a year out.

In that, it is our intention to build a great game and we are not close minded to those that see the game from the outside.

All the best Mr. Sterling and I look forward to seeing you soon

I remember being excited to play a co-op Oblivion-style game before the first one came out. Turns out it was the equivalent of having your best friend hold your hand in the bathroom while you take a dump.

I remember actually having fun with how BAD the original was, picked it up in a pre-owned bin for poos and giggles and had a blast laughing at it. If the sequel is anywhere near as bad I'm actually genuinely interested.

I hope the game turns out great. Who doesn't want another rich fantasy world to romp around in? The first game set the bar very, very low, hopefully they've learned from their mistakes and the sloppy animation and voice acting can be improved before release. It is alpha after all.
