Two thugs beat man with bat, threaten with sword ... for a plastic drum kit photo

Two men are held on a $50,000 cash bail in Rochester after invading a family home, beating a man with a baseball bat, threatening him with a sword in front of his kids and then making off with their impressive haul ... one videogame drum kit.

Thomas Joy, 17 and Michael Bullis, 18 are alleged to have committed the act last week, with both men facing charges of burglary. Only Joy has so far racked up a more serious list of felonies, having allegedly struck the male occupent of the apartment in the face with a baseball bat, then kicking him repeatedly in the face and torso, "manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life."

The victim's children are said to have been present for the assault, watching as a sword was put to their father's throat. The victim at one point used himself as a shield to protect his eight-year-old son, begging the men not to kill him in front of his children. Bullis and Joy allegedly carried a samurai sword and a Gurkha sword. Last Thursday, Joy was arrested without incident, while Bullis was taken in after a ten-minute chase. Joy's reasoning for the whole incident? "I do crazy things when I'm drunk."

The stupidest part of this whole affair though is that, after a beating and violent threats, these two morons supposedly made off with just one drum kit for an unspecified music game. Not the console that the family must have had, or any other peripheral, or indeed anything of real value. Crime for crime's own sake is retarded beyond measure and I reserve a special kind of disgust for its perpetrators.

Still, given the nature of the burglary, one can't rule out the possibily of Nick Chester's involvement.

Maybe Nick Chester needed a new drum kit so he could finally pass Alanis Morisette's "You Oughta Know" in Rock Band.

That's right Nick Chester, THE INTERNET WILL NEVER FORGET YOU FAILED THAT SONG.

BTW drunk again, sorry.

Jim you made me laugh after reading a story about a brutal, pointless murder.

Just...think about that.

....Wait, Nick failed "You Oughta Know"? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA. (Just kiddin'. Maybe.)

Still...I'm trying to figure out why I find this situation so...humorous. Could just be the fact that human stupidity is always amusing though.

In Rochester? As in, where I live when I'm not at college? Rochester, NY? This could have just as easily been me that they beat and stole one of my three plastic drumkits from!

Same as someone above said, I really shouldn't laugh at an article about something like this. But I did.

Well done Jim.

Also, internet.

The mention of swords made me think they were going to blame Saints Row 2, instead of GTA 4, for their stupidity.
