I know, I know -- some of you weren't exactly thrilled by Metroid: Other M, but take a look at this figma and let your memories fade away. We shared this piece before, and according to our friends at Tomopop, it's now up for pre-order. You may want to get on that right away.
Alternatively, if Zero Suit Samus is more your style, pre-orders are also being accepted for a 1/8th scale figure. Both of these are looking at June releases.
It's rare to see my love of videogames converge with collectible toys that don't leave me eating ramen for weeks, but it does happen. That's an increasingly good thing, the more I think about it.

"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Dammit, what I wouldn't give for money in my pocket.
Retro Studios needs to save Metroid again!
the varia suit is roughly $46 and the zero suit is roughly $95, but that's a 1/8th so it's going to cost more.
Thanks I only saw a european price and I don't know how to convert rupees to US dollars. That's not an insane price I must say. I think I may partake.
Authorization granted.
Then I got it for $20 and loved it - it's a great game.
Of course, it's a great game provided you ignore ANY and ALL story and dialogue, and mute it during any talking scenes. If you do that, it's a really fun, solid action game - and plays just like all the other pre-Prime old school Metroid games with no story.
Aside from Metroid that has next to nothing to do with this article in particular, but I'd like to make a response. I won't cite the story since that's been done to death. I just want to talk about my displeasure with playing it.
I personally felt that Other M was clunky at best and a colossal mess at worst. Navigating a 3D plane with a D-pad is nearly as ridiculous as either turning the Wii remote to aim missiles in a first person view (which by the way also immobilizes you) or gaining a heat resistant suit only after suffering an entire lava area in the game.
The game was not well thought out in story or design IMO. It's not a great game and it certainly does not compare to the originals and especially not the Prime series that it so eagerly ignored. Also, the auto aiming shooting mechanic was stupid; there was hardly any skill involved.
It was a good idea in concept; fuck I hyped the shit out of that game. But my expectations as a Metroid fan were clearly too high. The game was trash and needs to be retconned (again IMO).
As for putting the TV on mute, the cutscenes are fairly lengthy (hell, they were so proud they fashioned them into a movie) and are can't be skipped when playing. It's difficult to just ignore the cutscenes when you don't even have the option to skip them.
Also, Other M, above its flaws, was a helluva lotta fun! I throughly enjoyed it.
Its a unique game with a unique control system (than I found very effective) and a nice B-movie plot.
Looked again at payment questions but found nothing
quality and color is amazing, and Samus is hot as hell!!!!!!!!!!
Not so much, thanks.
