Two new River City games announced for North America photo

BARF!

They're no River City Ransom, but we'll take them. Aksys Games recently announced two DS games in the River City series: River City Soccer Hooligans and River City Super Sports Challenge. The announcement kind of slipped through the cracks at Dtoid HQ, but we still wanted to point them out.

River City Soccer Hooligans is, as you'd guess, a soccer game. The Hooligans go for the World Soccer Championship against 12 teams. You can unlock 50 teammates and play up to four players via DS link-up.

The other, Super Sports Challenge, combines athletics (track and field) with fighting, with you taking out rival schools with moves like the Human Bomb and the Pizza Shot. There's a Edit Character mode where you can change your team's looks and stats. Like Soccer Hooligans, this title also supports 4 players through Download Battle.

This is not what most of you are hoping for, I know. You just want to beat in heads and pick up the bounciest coin ever made. I'm with you. But I'm still looking forward to checking both of these out.

[Good lookin' out, seifd]

Remember in England Soccer Hooligans usually go around Getting into fights and causing trouble, there still maybe a hidden mode in the game like that, the title seems to set us up to believe that they're gonna be up to no good.

It could happen.

How is Soccer Hooligans not a beat-em-up?

Aaaaarrrrgghhhhhhhhh! I wanted a sequel. RCR EX was great. I'll check these out too. I hope they do OK so that a true sequel can be made.

Amazing. Too bad I already sold my DS. I had just purchased a DSi and then not even a few weeks later I saw the whole DSi XL thing. Made me want to sell it, so I did. Hahaha. Either way, this is awesome and I wish they'd make a next gen version of River City Ransom.

Super Sports Challenge sounds like a remake of Crash 'n the Boys: Street Challenge. Sign me the hell up.

More Kunio is always good, although none of the sequels or spinoffs ever held my attention as well as the original. Personally, I'd LOVE it if they pulled a Megaman 9 and went 8-bit with the new games.

And now if they could just make a decent Super Dodge Ball remake...

Is River City Ransom, Nintendo World Cup or Super Dodgeball on the VC yet?

I'm a huge Kunio fan so I'll take anything I can get. Very happy they're using the River City name to tie things together in the western market. Still no remake of Ganbare Dunk Heroes though? Take your NBA Jams and shove off, Dunk Heroes is COMBAT BASKETBRAWL.

So what're the odds that Super Sports Challenge is just a remake of Crash 'n' the Boyz: Street Challenge?

Would be neat to get a remake or sequel as DLC.

Oh well, a man can dream.

Is this Nintendo World Cup and Crash n the Boyz?! I'll take it, but I really want them to remake the Kunio fighting game they had, I think the ROM was called Riki Kunio or something like that?

DO WANTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!

If Super Sports Challenge is anything like Hot Blooded Marching Anthem, then I might have to buy that, and a new DS. Good to see Kunio-kun and the crew are returning.

Guys, just buy it so that they'll be convinced to make another beat em up. Seriously please, I want another RCR, and i dont want to have to not get one because of crappy sales of these games.

Godammit.

screw you nintendo DS give me an updated looking RCR game for PSN or XBL
better than the japanes SNES version.
could be 3d world and 2d remade/updated sprites.
keep the side scrolling game play.
multiple floors and levels as well as going into buildings.
i want it to be rated M. i want blood from swords and serious beatdowns.
make it so you upgrade skills with exp, but you can buy clothes to enhance them. and of course foods for whatever. and items for moves etc.
