Two new Mass Effect 3 screenshots show Salarian homeworld photo

Game Informer has two new screenshots for Mass Effect 3. The screens show Cerberus forces opposing Shephard on the Salarian homeworld, which we all know as Sur'Kesh. Given that planets in Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 were either homeworlds (like Tuchanka) or economic hubs (Omega, Illium), perhaps Mass Effect 3 will feature all of the other races' homeworlds? I'll take one Elcor homeworld please.

The Salarian settlement or city depicted in the screenshots seems to be under attack, so it's anyone's guess why Cerberus would be there in the first place and why they are actively opposing Shephard's quest to rid the galaxy of the Reapers. Or how they got past the Salarian Special Task Groups.

Let's hope the Illusive Man hasn't done one of those "We have to join <evil force> or be destroyed, and they promised to give me <high ranking position of power devoid of meaning in a dead world>" things.

Check out the higher res screens over at the Game Informer website.

I'm hoping this game will be epic in scope. A lengthy war of attrition that leaves you exhausted, drained, and overwhelmed by the end. Horrible sacrifices, brutal consequences, virtually no real hope of victory, that kind of thing.

My Shepard can handle it.

* Cerberus forces consist of mechs and new “ninja-style” shock troops.
* Reaper ships range in size from a 2km mothership to 500-600 meter other units (likely the ones from the Mass Effect 3 reveal trailer.)
* Dynamic combat: Mechs for example, require targeting weak points to bring them down.
* Improved AI: Participants in enemy groups play specific roles and can run “coordinated assaults” against you.
* Certain enemies let you cut off their arms, take their head off or break off pieces of armor.
* Much larger variety of enemies.
* Engineers can also build turrets
* There’s a new “Heavy Melee” class.
* Combat is 10-15% faster and you’ll be forced to move a lot.
* More items available to “loot” and more of an inventory system.
* Environments are larger and more dynamic.
* You’ll see people walking, ships fighting, more interactive.
* Architecture and lightning much improved – aiming for photorealism.
* On Earth, you’ll visit New York and London.
* You’ll also visit Mars, a Quarian world and a Salarian world.
* There’s a new planet scanning system.

My body is ready.

[excited agreement]I would love to visit the Elcor homeworld. I wish Bioware would do a What If? game where HK-47 attacks it.

I wonder how we'll bypass the extreme heavy gravity on the Elcor homeworld once we go there, unless we want to continue our adventures as a pile of squished meat inside a levitating pod called Shep-parts.

Considering Saren pretty much already pulled a "We have to join <evil force> or be destroyed, and they promised to give me <high ranking position of power devoid of meaning in a dead world>" thing in ME1, I'm hoping BioWare won't be silly enough to try it again in ME3.

I want to cruise around some Turian cities too.

Please please please make Trident an explorable world
http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Trident

"A human-dominated world with over 95% of its surface covered by salt water, Trident is home to a dazzling array of life. The oceans are filled with creatures ranging from tiny bivalves to mammoth vertebrates unequaled even by Earth's whales and ichthyosaurs. Small archipelagos create what little land there is, and its valuable real estate is fought over constantly."

sounds like a perfect world to explore...

In all fairness, the Illusive Man could be easily corrupted by Reapers. Lest we forget what happened to Saren.

It would just be really dumb to use the same trick twice.

All I hope is that I can explore the Turian homeworld, because I want to get more info on Garrus after his secret logs from Lair of the Shadow Broker.

Getting to play on the Turian homeworld would not be a reach, and it'd give you some flexibility.

Salarian homeworld? I'm salivating already. In year with so many potential awesome releases, this is one of my definite must-buys. Can't wait to read that cover story.

I don't see a Salarian homeworld. I see the beginning of another cookie-cutter layout of 3rd-person cover points with a different skin on top. I don't know how Mass 2 avoided this obvious criticism, and I'm sad it doesn't appear to be getting more varied.
