The problem I have with the Duke Nukem franchise is that my interest levels started low and went downhill from there.
This is why I didn't know that you could unlock two screenshots for Duke Nukem Forever by playing the XBLA version of Duke Nukem 3D. I was going to review 3D for the site but I got halfway through the first chapter and questioned what I was doing, so I stopped.
These two screens are everything you would expect from Duke Nukem: Ugly aliens, stripppers and a sense of apathy. The shots were glimped before, but in very low quality versions. You can now see the hi-res pictures at Duke4.net.
I still can't help but feel this is all some big practical joke that 3D Realms is having at the industry's expense.

And as for hype... Has the game really been hyped? I mean, seriously. Has anyone ever expected anything great from this?

I don't think most people are saying it will be bad. I think we're mostly saying that it will never be as good as what the hype, and the long development time, suggest it will be. I think Too Human more than proved that that's a distinct possibility.
Well, the game IS pretty hyped, just based on the fact that a lot of people loved the other Duke games, and they've been taking a long time on it. There's also a case of Retro Goggles going on, too. People's expectations have been driven up way high, though not entirely by the developers.
