Since she was representing the main character of a game and dressed up in an anatomically correct costume that was relevant to the character it seem weird that they wouldn't let her stay. I personally think the pink jumpsuit is a little alarming, but if the school girl uniform didn't have any problems the first day I don't see the problem with her wearing it the second day.
my guess is that it was Probably a group of people that complained about the first outfit and decided the cheerleader out fit was bad and complained about that too.
Sucks to hear it Jonathan/Jessica
-Game is about a rather revealing woman with a chainsaw
-Cosplay woman shows up as the protagonist character
-She gets removed
hahahahahahahahahaha, unbelievable. It's like I'm watching one of those shitty Family Guy episodes.
Why can't things/people stay cool and not suck metaphorical balls?
As for Keith, I heard he was up to trolling and such, being the "johnny knoxville" of pax. He was warned and removed for it last year, only tobtame up his antics again this year.
I can't really get outraged over the guy getting kicked out for taking off his pants during a panel. I'm sure it was entertaining, but I'm equally sure he did it knowing he was going to get kicked out. No sympathy on that one.
Also I will add that though I've been really looking forward to Lollipop Chainsaw and all this cheese is amusing in the context of the game, getting her to wander around conventions and PR events with her tits hanging out is really, really pathetic and if anything quite insulting. When it was just the game you could pass it off as being a bit of a joke, but when they're paying someone to actually wop 'em out for the lads for PR, that's treading on the joke and insulting the players, and frankly the IP and the developers too. It's a good show of how little faith a publisher has in a title if they resorting to a walking billboard with tits to promote the game.
As for the dude, that one's unfair, but it wasn't his panel so I understand why he'd be thrown out. Barred for life? Too harsh, but thrown out of this particular PAX? Understandable.
On the other, I haven't been to PAX before (sadface!), so I don't know if there are any children/minors allowed in. If that dude had randomly taken his pants off and there were kids around, I'm surprised he's not in jail.
And when it comes to Jessica Nigri I can't help but get the sense that in trying to become mature it's almost becoming more afraid of sexuality. It's like the worst part of Catholicism in that you're made to feel shame for what you find appealing or something. I dunno, just feels a bit wrong.
I mean video game culture needs to grow up when it comes to women but chasing away all the hot chicks unless they cover up is just as immature.
I wonder if the cartoonists will put up a strip about this...
Are breasts that look too much like the ones that they are likely fresh off of going to confuse the children yet the ones that are pretty much reserved for adults only get a free pass?
What are any of the Zangief, Haggar, Kratos or Yuri Lowell cosplayers bringing to PAX other than a slightly different shape of tit to justify their presence, anyway?
More to the point and less annoying are those attempting to draw a distinction between booth babes and hired cosplayers. I agree with you to a certain extent but you've gotta admit that line is thin and not very well defined, and I don't think PAX would have much luck attempting to allow the one and disallow the other. It's far too easy to intentionally blur that line even further in an attempt to get away with bullshit. Ya know?
I don't envy PAX the position they were in with this Jessica chick. Frankly I'm AceFlibble in that I find the notion that publishers think they need to parade tits in front of my fact to sell me a game insulting to me, the game, the developers of the game, and gaming as a whole. I love tits, but I don't need tits to sell me things I already enjoy, and good games shouldn't need them either.
That having been said, I'm certainly not offended by good cosplay, even when tits are involved, and what we're talking about here is... somewhere in between. I'd be so very fucking ok with this if this Jessica chick showed up of her own free will to PAX dressed this way with no compensation. Being hired to do it though? Much less ok with that.
As for Jessica, PAX has always had a "no booth babe" policy. Yes, she's cosplaying a character, but it's clearly a matter of using boobs to get attention. And I love boobs. Would I tap that? Yes (hourly), but it kinda ruins the integrity and atmosphere of the convention. PAX has never pandered to its audience with skimpy women.
I call bullshit.
Now about Keith Apicary, what they did was fine and good.
He is an asshole that using otehr people for his stupid jokes, only idiots with no sense of humor laugh from his jokes.
I hate him.
What I hate more is the fact that he uses his sickness to do everything he wants because in politically correct America you cant yell at "sick people" and usually you have to smile to them and accept everything they do.
Isn't that a little inconsistent?
Cosplayers being able to prance around and show of their goods, but as soon as someone is paid for it, that's a no-no? I think PAX should either allow cosplayers, both hired and not hired, or not allow cosplayers at all.
As for the hired ones like Jessica, as long as their outfit is highly relevant to the game they represent (i.e. dressing as a main character), I see no problem showing some cleavage and the like. To me the real problem only occurs when an outfit is just some random, revealing clothes with a game logo and the person wearing them clearly doesn't know anything about the product she or he is hired to front. That's just embarrassing and degrading for all parties involved.
There are still going to be lots of people with revealing outfits there, so the end result is the mostly the same. I don't see a problem with someone being payed for that and talking about a product, but I'm curious as to what you have against it.
"I'm dressed up as the girl from Lollipop Chainsaw because I love cosplaying."
vs
"I was paid to dress up like the girl from Lollipop Chainsaw. I have huge tits, buy this game."
As for Keith, he normally gets kicked out of places. It wouldn't be a worthwhile convention if he were allowed to stay, haha. That man is genius.
Breast size and willingness to show cleavage doesn't necessarily change whether you're paid or not. And even if you're cosplaying for the fun of it you are still giving something free promotion. I believe the end result is mostly the same.
