Two boys experience the worst GameStop visit ever

Two boys experience the worst GameStop visit ever photo
     Violence
Two Texas-based gamers thought they were going to GameStop to get some new games, but all they got was a gun in their faces. They just happened to pick the worst time to stop by their local game store.

A Dallas/Ft. Worth CBS affiliate brings us this horribly written report (and video) on a GameStop robbery in Arlington, Texas. Surveillance video shows one robber entering the store with his gun drawn, and the store clerk heads to the back room as ordered. Another robber digs around for a shopping bag to nab consoles (or, as the article says, 'high-end video equipment'), and not money. These guys know their stuff! They must know that the value of a couple of arm-loads of PS3s and Xbox 360s will far outweigh that of whatever cash is in the register.

One of the boys enters the store and is forced to the ground by the gunman. The other boy follows suit and hits the floor. As the robbers leave, they pass a woman entering the store who may be the boys' guardian. She promptly makes a phone call.

"It's certainly concerning to us when someone walks in, in broad daylight, armed with a weapon, forcing customers to the ground," said Christy Gilford, Arlington Police Department. "That's exactly why we are releasing this information."

Authorities have already captured one robber, but are still looking for the other. Anyone with information about the robbery or the second suspect is asked to contact Arlington police.

It took all the restraint I have not to use Chad Warren's likeness in this post.

That'll show 'em. Don't shop at GameStop, thugs are always ripping those joints off. Soon they'll be a hangout for dopefiends and crackwhores.

Shop at mom&pop gameshop! I give the gamestop the finger. That opinion has nothing to do with the robbery, just my former employment with them.

@ Ritalin Twitch

I believe the line would be:

"In Soviet Russia, Gamestop ROBS YOU!"

Of course Gamestop robs us everyday, taking food and water out of our childrens mouths. But thats neither here or there.

You mean video games didn't magically teach them how to subdue the robbers?

So this is either the coolest or lamest story ever, I can't decide:

A couple of years ago I was robbed at gunpoint in front of a movie theater. I don't want to go into everything that happened here, but it was a nasty and unpleasant experience. After I had filled out the police reports I immediately went home to decompress and wind down a little.

I called my girlfriend on the phone, but I didn't want to tell her until we were in person so that she wouldn't get too worried.

I was pretty shaken up at the idea of almost dying and I didn't know what to do with myself. So, and I'm pretty sure Chad Concelmo would be feeling me on this, I fired up the old SNES and played about three hours straight of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It was like a warm hug from a friend, while I was waiting for some real human interaction. It was one of those few moments where I saw video games as more than a hobby. It totally calmed me down and made me feel at peace with everything that happened.

So wait a minute . . . video games can actually combat the trauma of violence? I'm confused here. I thought they were supposed to turn me into a maniac.

I hate that video report. "Two boys" of course it's two boys. Only kids play video games. Duh! Also the way the news reporter talks, like it's 1983. "They robbed video game equipment" stereo equipment, what? I think they robbed an Atari and Coleco Vision as well. *rolls eyes*

When I was working at EB Games by my house (right before they switched over), they got robbed 2 days after I quit working there (I quit because my husband at the time was afraid I'd be robbed).

Scary.

Haha! Yay for my hometown! I'm so glad I never had to go work at one of the Arlington stores. I heard that the one on Cooper St. is hell. One guy got his knee busted in by robbers, but he did try to run so they company didn't pay for his hospital bills.

But, yeah, people try to rob Gamestop all the time so I don't see how this is big news.

um... Jack Thompson's quest is now fail. Because, given his awesome ideas on videogames, the two boys held at gunpoint should've known how to defend themselves, and not care much, since they had extra lives left. Unless they only play nintendo games ZING!

My local gamestop had a double murder in it way back in the day. The manager/assistant manager were shot and killed and only money was taken.

Blah. Knew the guys. =\
