According to last night's post over at Microsoft operated blog, Channel 10:
Two of the coolest Microsoft annoucements since CES are going to be breaking tonight and tomorrow night, and we have exclusive video for both of them.
The first, the Xbox 360 Elite SKU, was the worst kept secret in the industry (next to the other worst kept secrets, of course). Nex brought you all of the
juicy official details earlier, even refraining from using that God damned Winston Churchill picture.
So what's next? Some have speculated that Microsoft and Rockstar will announce that the upcoming
IV (not
Grand Theft Auto IV...just
IV), will be an Xbox 360 exclusive. With the official trailer dropping tomorrow, the timing almost make sense.
Some have even pointed to an "official"
Rockstar support page which only has the Xbox 360 listed as the platform.
Hold your horses, though, partner. How about the
"People are f**king stupid" platform? Or the "
Nick Chester's Free PS3, Courtesy of SCEA" console? That does have a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
But despite people jumping to conclusions, it would be silly to rule anything out entirely. MS have already apparently paid good money to secure exclusive downloadable content for Rockstar's cash cow, so it's not that far fetched to think that wallets (and butt cheeks) were opened even wider to extend that further.
But it might not even be game related at all. Perhaps a signficant update to Xbox Live? How about making it, uh, free? It's also entirely possible that has nothing to do with the Xbox 360 itself; maybe Microsoft will unveil a new version of Excel for Vista. You never know.
So what could it be? Go ahead -- kill your entire day in the comments of this thread, speculating.

Besides, I've yet to see what the massively huge hook to this game is. Dyack acts like there's some overall scheme that's going to blow us all away, but it looks to me like a bleh third person shooter set in the future. What's the big deal?
No this isn't major nelson larry but it is still a MS guy nonetheless. After a lot of speculation he posted this morning that the announcement would not be about xbox 360.
I hope that isn't true myself. I want to hear about halo beta or new dashboard goodness.
GTA will be multi platform as usual.
Halo 3 Beta could be it, but that wouldn't affect the whole gamer base, just the Crackdown owners....so let's wait and see.

Yeah, I think GTA IV is stupid and boring as well. You know when you have to fight the alien vaginas and they try and suck you into them like a giant vacuum and then spit you out again? Yeah, that was yawn inducing.

Yes I know what you are saying and it was a simple typo. We both were referring to previous GTA's (well I was, I assume he was too).
USE some common sense.
Anybody who's HAPPY to see any next gen game do a "switch" like this GTA IV rumour is a fanboy, plain and simple. Bottom line is that it's not good for the industry if things like that happen.
A former exclusive being turned into a multi-platform is a different story. I just don't see any downside to it. Everybody wins (except fanboys, DMC4 anyone?)
I don't want to see the PS3 fail, but at teh same time, I'd like to be able to choose between a PS3 and a 360 and have access to pretty ALL the must have games. If need be though, I'll throw down the cash for the other one if there are enough exclusives.
It says two announcements from Microsoft, not Xbox. And in case you didn't know, Microsoft has a lot of stuff going on besides the Xbox.
1. Though the support page only has the 360 sticker if you look at the GTA 4 game it says playstation 3 down the side.
2. The Microsoft blog already stated it won't be about the 360.
It will probably be something that isn't exciting, probably something about the Zune.
If history has shown anything here on Destructoid, it's that Fanboys are usually completely disappointed.. I recall the last time anything was mentioned about possible exclusivity - which was the last 5 times or so - All the fanboys ran out screaming "MGS4 360 EXCLUSIVE!".. Wrong all those times.. I almost wish something like that would happen so we can stop the rediculous responses around here.
Everybody KNOWS about the black xbox 360, the other "secret" is the announcement of the date for the Halo 3 beta. (Oh crap you mean you guessed it with our ultra secret xbox live maintenence?)
The beta will Probably be released in July, why? because Bungie is obsessed with the number "7" thats why also it gives time for the developers to create even more Hype around it. (also theres a rumor MGS4 for PS3 may be released around that date but thats just a rumor).
Case closed, back to our rabbit holes.
